In a new ad, Jay-Z announced the release of his new album, "Magna Carta Holy Grail," due out on July 4 - the commercial happened to be for Samsung, which promised a free, early download of "Magna" to those who downloaded their app. Samsung purchased 1 million copies of the album for $5 in order to meet the expected demand.

Turns out, that promise may not end up working out in Jay Z's favor.

According to Showbiz411, sources have confirmed that Soundscan has decided not to count those 1 million copies on the charts, because the company "doesn't acknowledge bulk sales."

Now, the promotion will simply be just that: a marketing ploy.

Regardlss, fans can still download the app on June 24th and get the album free July 4th, three days before the rest of the world. Learn more: http://magnacartaholygrail.com.
