Sony Movie Channel Celebrates Academy Awards With 'Oscar-A-Day Promotion'

As Hollywood gets ready for its big night with The Academy Awards on Sunday, February 24, Sony Movie Channel (SMC) is providing die-hard movie buffs with a month-long Oscar celebration. Starting February 1 through the 28th, SMC is airing films daily that either won an Oscar or were nominated.

True film aficionados will enjoy using SMC's easy-to-follow Oscar-A-Day calendar to see what's on that day. The calendar, available at, lists air times and other interesting facts about the respective movies. The Channel is also highlighting Oscar movies by posting interesting facts every day in February on its Facebook page (

SMC has curated an outstanding schedule of memorable motion pictures dating as far back as Frank Capra 's Best Picture Award-winner IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT from 1934 and MR. DEEDS GOES TO TOWN from 1936, which won for Best Director. The schedule also includes Best Picture winners A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS from 1966 and OLIVER! from 1968. Other films nominated in that top category will also be featured such as DR. STRANGELOVE (1964), CHINATOWN(1974) and THE BIG CHILL (1983).

As the Academy Award nominees attend pre-Oscar galas on Saturday, February 23, SMC is treating its viewers to an entire day featuring all Oscar movies. In fact, the whole weekend is about The Academy Awards on SMC. On the day of the Awards, Sunday, February 24, the Channel is devoting its programming to the male star with the most Oscar acting nominations ever - Jack Nicholson .
