Various UK news services have reported that Britain's Got Talent star Jamie Pugh has indeed played at a West End theatre before, undermining his claim of having no experience in front of large audiences. Pugh told the judges that he had never performed before a large crowd before, and appeared to tremble with nerves during the audition.

The UK Sun obtained a video of Jamie Pugh's performance with his group at Her Majesty's Theatre, the West End home of Andrew Lloyd Webber's international mega-hit The Phantom of the Opera

The group, reports the Sun, performed a medley of Rod Stewart numbers under the heading Great American Songbook. Jamie Pugh seemed so confident he even did a solo of Louis Armstrong's classic What A Wonderful World. The program for the night gave him a mention, saying: "This is Jamie's first foray into the world of musical theatre and marks his first public appearance. "He has dreamed of making this journey ever since he was a boy, when he saw Les Miserables in London." To read the full article in the UK Sun, click here.

Susan Boyle has won international stardom and world-wide affection for her earlier stunning performance of "I Dreamed A Dream" from Les Miserables. Boyle, an unemployed woman who's "nearly 48," talked about her cat, and joked around with the judges, noting that she had "never been kissed." She revealed her dreams of being a singer and wished to follow the recording path of beloved British musical theater star Elaine Paige. The entire audience prepared for the worst as she began her song, but, once she starting singing the crowd and judges were transported by her emotional and theatrical take on the number!

All the current Susan Boyle publicity has won the Original London Cast recording of "Les Miserables" the #1 top spot on the Billboard Cast Albums chart. The Original Broadway Cast album of the musical has jumped to #4! On October 8, 1985 Les Misérables opened at the Barbican Theatre, London and musical theatre history was made. It then moved to the Palace Theatre on 4 December 1985. On March 12, 1987, the American version opened at the Broadway Theatre.

Since then, Les Misérables by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg, with lyrics byHerbert Kretzmer has travelled the globe and won many major awards throughout the world, including eight Tony awards, including Best Musical. Les Misérables has touched the heart of its international audience as few shows in history have ever done.

Britain's Got Talent press notes describe the show's concept as follows, "a nationwide talent contest where the winner gets to perform their act for Prince Charles at the prestigious Royal Variety Show, pick up a cheque for £100,000, and catapult themselves towards superstardom.
