Stars of the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens- John Boyega, who plays Finn, and Daisy Ridley, who plays Rey- were seen at D23, Disney's biennial exposition, at the Anaheim Convention Center today, creating their own artwork for a fan-designed video inspired by the movie's trailer. The project is part of a new partnership between Disney and HP, entitled "Art Awakens," where HP technology from 3D scanning/touchscreen Sprout computers will help create a video by and for passionate Star Wars fans. Below, check out photos of some examples of the frames fans created.

This weekend at D23, HP and Disney, created a dynamic opportunity for fans to collectively participate in a Star Wars "Art Awakens" fan-designed video inspired by the movie trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. D23, taking place from August 14-16 at the Anaheim Convention Center, celebrates all the magic, wonder, and adventure of Disney and is a gathering created for Disney's most passionate and loyal fans.

HP has created a special station, featuring all of its technology (including the 3D scanning/touch projection desktop Sprout by HP and the touch screen convertible x360 laptops), so fans, artists, celebrities, social influencers, and filmmakers can use HP products to band together and design art across each frame of the latest Star Wars: The Force Awakens movie trailer. Artists will be able to digitally draw on a single frame from the trailer and then all 2700 pieces will be edited and fused back together to re-imagine the official movie trailer with every frame covered in fan art, all created on HP technology. There will also be an opportunity for fans to participate remotely from a web based editing software. The Star Wars "Art Awakens" fan-designed video will then be shared a week after D23 across HP and Disney social media channels. The program was designed by marketing strategy and innovation agency Giant Spoon and the software development, editing, and on-site activation was managed by experiential agency Infinity.

The project is a part of "Art Awakens," an exciting new program for Star Wars fans old and new, across the country to revitalize creativity by "Bending the Rules" of The Force, themed around a galaxy far, far away. "Art Awakens" kicked off August 11th with the launch of a two-month-long nationwide fan art competition across the US. Amateur artists can submit their Star Wars: The Force Awakens inspired art on ArtAwakens.com for a chance to be featured in an upcoming professional art exhibit later in the year.
