Hugh Jackman will be honored by New York City's Museum of the Moving Image's annual "Salute" fundraiser tonight, December 11, 2012, at Cipriani Wall Street.

"We are thrilled to be honoring one of the world's most beloved and talented performers," the museum's Executive Director Carl Goodman said during his announcement of the event.

Jackman will next be seen in the role of Jean Valjean in the upcoming and highly anticipated Tom Hooper film adaptation of Les Misérables, which hits theaters on Dec. 14. Other film credits include Real Steel, the X-Men series, The Fountain, The Prestige, Van Helsing, Kate and Leopold and many more. Jackman is also an accomplished awards-show host, having hosted the Tony Awards from 2003 to 2005 and the 2009 Academy Awards.

Apart from his work on the silver screen, Jackman, a stage veteran, has appeared on Broadway in Hugh Jackman: Back on Broadway, A Steady Rain, The Boy from Oz and Oklahoma! He is also working on Broadway's Harry Houdini, set for the stage in 2013.

Past MMI honorees include Alec Baldwin, Tom Cruise, Clint Eastwood, Robert DeNiro, Goldie Hawn, Dustin Hoffman, Tom Hanks, Steve Martin, Mike Nichols, Al Pacino, Sidney Poitier, Julia Roberts, Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg.

The fundraiser will support MMI's programs, exhibitions and educational activities, which include tours, workshops and screenings.
