FUNimation Entertainment announced another record box office for Day 2 of its limited theatrical release of the anime film "Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F'." With a slight increase to 901 theaters over opening night's 895 theaters, FUNimation Films brought in an astounding $1.55 Million box office on Wednesday for a total of more than $3.5 Million in two days. The movie held onto 1 st place among the Top 10 with a per screen average of $1,724 ahead of such films as "Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation." With its 2-day gross, "Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F'" has far and away eclipsed the total 8-day box office ($2.8 Million) of last year's "Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods."

"We are ecstatic not only that our fans love Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F' but also that our theater partners have embraced it. We could not have led the U.S. box office in average per screen for THE PAST two days and crossed $4.0 Million on Day 3 without both of them," said Michael DuBoise, EVP and COO of FUNimation. "Together we have a chance to break into the Top 10 list of anime releases of all time becoming the only independent film to do so. Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F' returns to wide release on Saturday and next Tuesday and with the continued support from fans and theaters, we may soon stand alongside Disney and the legendary Hayao Miyazaki and his blockbusters, Howl's Moving Castle and The Wind Rises."

"Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F'," which opened yesterday in Canada, performed well on its third night despite a drop in theater screens at big chains in order to make room for major studio releases. The film will continue its run in both the U.S. and Canada thru Wednesday, August 12.

"While losing theaters to make way for major studio releases, Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection'F' dropped a modest 6% in average per screen between Wednesday toThursday," said David Wengrod, VP ofTheatrical Distribution for FUNimation. "Our $1,629 per screen average is a solid base to build on as we head into the weekend for wide release on Saturday."
