Marina's Menu: NATIONAL TEQUILA DAY Coming Thursday, 7/24

There seems to be a "National Day" for every type of food and drink. If you missed "National Ice Cream Day" on Sunday, July 20th there are more summer specials on the way like "National Tequila Day" on Thursday, July 24th. Perhaps you want to whip up a tasty frozen Margarita at home or indulge in your favorite bar's specials. Here are a few suggestions to enjoy our national nod to Mexico's prized liquor.

Calexico, a popular Mexican eatery on the Lower East Side of New York City will have tequila flights and a special Cilantro-Cucumber Margarita. You can enjoy a refreshing margarita for $10 or a Tequila Flight for $20. Calexico is located at 153 Rivington Street.

And, here is Calexico's recipe for their Cilantro-Cucumber special so you can mix it yourself: Tequila 1 and1/2 oz., Combier 1/2 oz., Cucumber 4 slices, Cilantro1 sprig, Lime Juice 1/2 oz. and Agave 1/2 oz.

We also suggest one of Canyon Road drink specialties, the Jalapeno and Strawberry Margarita. Located on New York's Upper East Side at 1470 1st Avenue, Canyon Road is a welcoming and stylish restaurant. And, their Jalapeno and Strawberry Margarita is the perfect blend of fruity and sassy.

East side or West Side of the city, stop by Cascabel Taqueria for one of their traditional Margaritas, just the way you like them with a salt rimmed glass. This bustling and vibrant restaurant is well-known for good food and drink.

So, sip Margaritas and other tequila drinks like the Tequila Sunrise, the Paloma and the Matador this Thursday. If you happen to miss National Tequila Day, there's always the weekend. This Mexican liquor made from the blue agave plant pairs well with food any day of the week.
