For many families, the holidays are a time of joy and celebration, but for the 16 million children in America struggling with hunger, the holidays can be one of the hardest times of the year. To help end childhood hunger this holiday season and all year long, Share Our Strength's No Kid Hungry campaign is urging people to get involved, revealing three simple ways to help families in need: give, shop and act.

"One in five kids struggles with hunger in this country. Now more than ever, these kids need our help to get the healthy food they need to learn and grow," said Billy Shore, founder and CEO of Share Our Strength. "In the spirit of the holiday season, we're asking everyone to take simple actions to help make a big difference. Whether you donate, shop at stores that have partnered with the No Kid Hungry campaign, or sign up to volunteer in your hometown, you will help more kids get the food they need."

It's easy to make an impact this holiday season. Help kids struggling with hunger through these three simple actions:

1. Give Back
On Tuesday, December 3, Share Our Strength will host the No Kid Hungry Give-a-Thon on its social networks to coincide with #GivingTuesday, a national day dedicated to giving. The goal is to raise $25,000 on that day, and just $1 can help connect a child in need to up to 10 meals, so donations of all sizes make an impact.* On #GivingTuesday, Tyson Foods will generously match all donations made to No Kid Hungry (@NoKidHungry) through social media, up to a total of $25,000, so participants have the potential to raise a total of $50,000. After #GivingTuesday, continue to spread joy this season by making tax-deductible donations to support efforts to end childhood hunger.

2. Shop for Good
Take advantage of special holiday promotions that fit your gift-giving and memory-making needs while making a difference this month. Charitable partners, including American Express, Cavit Collection Wines, Couponsforchange.org, Hickory Farms, Kiehl's Since 1851, Le Creuset, Stephen Joseph, Tastefully Simple and Williams-Sonoma, will feature special holiday exclusives and events that support the No Kid Hungry campaign all month long. Stop by retail stores and visit these companies' websites to learn more and to participate in these special promotions so that you give back while shopping this holiday season.

3. Take Action Locally and Volunteer
Get ahead of your New Year's resolution by signing up to volunteer as a tour leader for your local Cooking Matters at the Store tours. No Kid Hungry's Cooking Matters at the Store teaches families how to purchase and cook healthy foods on a budget. Making sure every kid has the healthy food they need at home is a key to No Kid Hungry's work to end childhood hunger in America. Learn more and register.

Thanks to the generosity of all supporters of the No Kid Hungry campaign, since summer 2011, Share Our Strength's efforts have helped bring more than 34 million additional meals to kids who need them. Help continue to make an impact by visiting NoKidHungry.org to learn more about efforts to end childhood hunger and ways to be a part of the solution this holiday season and all year long.

Share Our Strength's national No Kid Hungry efforts are supported by core partners Arby's Foundation, Food Network and the Walmart Foundation.
