CorderoFoods.com, Ricardo Cordero and Barry Gurule are on to something. The little village of Benavente in the province of Zamora; a radius of 20 miles, is home to two grape varieties indigenous only to the area.

The consumer and press are tired of the same grape varieties. How many Malbec's and Shiraz's can one consumer purchase before indifference kicks in? Consumers are looking for something exciting. A province in Castile and Leon, Zamora could be as popular as the past Argentinian and Australian wine craze.

Zamora even stumps the best of wine professionals, with the grape varieties. Alicia Vargo, Brand Developer for Speakeasy Wine & Spirits PR states, "My guess, 90% of the population have never tasted Albarin, regularly confused with Albario." Prieto Picudo is another grape typically used for blending, a worthy stand alone.Halcon, from Vega de Tera Winery has changed their wine labels to include Preito Picudo front and center. Jose Pein, Spain's Wine Writer has stated that Vega de Tera is an up and comer for their wine quality. Monte La Reina Wines, from Toro is experimenting with many types of varietals. Gordonzello Winery is leading the way for these two grapes to make their mark in the US. Cordero Wines jumped on this bandwagon early, with varieties soon to be game changers in the US Market. March 2016: Spain is now the world's most popular winemaker: http://fortune.com/2016/03/03/Spain-wine-most-popular/ the country accounted for 2.4 billion liters sold in 2015 versus 2 billion liters of French wine sold, according to theIndependent, citing the Spanish Wine Market Observatory

"Spanish wines can compete with some of the best wines in the world,"NBCnews quoted Eric Lagarde of M. Touton Selection, as saying. "And for the most part they are great value especially right now with a stronger dollar. "Vargo states "Spain simply has to go to market with the right message; the US market is truly ready for something new and exciting". Barry Gurule, Ricardo Cordero and Alicia Vargo will have a booth at WSWA to host wholesalers, retailers and restaurants, along with the press and media."
