Along with the arrival of warmer weather, everyone who works, lives and/or plays in downtown Newark can look forward to the return of BURG. The rave-receiving, fast-casual eatery located in gloriously restored Military Park is set to reopen May 1 for lunch and dinner.

And to celebrate the opening of the BURG Garden's first full season, you'll want to pick up the brand-new BURG Loyalty Card: buy five burgers; get the sixth one free.

BURG made its mark on Brick City's much-talked-about culinary scene when it opened in late 2014, earning praise as one of the best new restaurants in the Garden State and a top spot for burger aficionados.

Don't eat red meat? No worries: BURG features a stellar veggie burger AND a chicken burger w/kale pesto.

The 40-seat restaurant and 100-seat outdoor bar, which took a brief hiatus, is the first fast-casual concept from the team of chef/owner Chris Siversen and restaurateur Marc Haskell of the acclaimed Maritime Parc in Jersey City's Liberty State Park. The BURG Garden also features a handsome stone patio with sparkly lights and the best vibe in town.

What's new for 2017? Lots!

-Introducing the BURG hot dog ($4) or w/spicy relish, mustard, ketchup, fried onion and crushed Fritos ($6)

-To kick off the BURG Garden, Siversen is introducing appealing new munchies like spicy Buffalo wings and nachos.

-Arrive early to snag a picnic table or Adirondack chair by one of TWO new fire pits on cooler spring nights

-Tempting weekly promotions and nightly specials

-Exciting new programming...including live music and DJs

-New! BURG Loyalty Card: Buy five burgers: get the sixth one free

-And say hi to General Manager Eric Manuelli formerly of Red in Red Bank!

At BURG, burger obsessed Siversen serves up refined fast food including beef, tuna, chicken, and veggie burgers, decadent grilled cheese, disco fries, fried pickles, addictive ice creams, great craft beer and sophisticated cocktails.

"From our vantage point, we're in the middle of all the exciting changes happening in downtown Newark," says Siversen. "Can't wait to welcome back familiar faces and meet new neighbors living and working here. Think of BURG as your go-to spot for Happy Hour, casual lunch dates and dinners, watching the big game or grabbing a bite before NJPAC and the Pru Center."

A Reopening Party is planned for Thursday, May 11 with giveaways, swag and the chance to party with Newark's top influencers. Stay tuned for details.
