Washington Ballet Announces Special Performance Dates of THE NUTCRACKER, 12/6

WASHINGTON, D.C.- Join The Washington Ballet for special performances of The Nutcracker, performed at the historic Warner Theatre December 3-27 and at THEARC Theater in Southeast DC November 28-29.

SPECIAL DATES

Family Day: Sunday, December 6, Pre-performance activities at Noon, Performance at 1PM.

Pre-performance activities include "make-a-ballet" led by The Washington Ballet's Artistic Director Septime Webre. This interactive experience includes discussion and audience participation as children of all ages discover what it takes to create everyone's favorite

The Nutcracker. Families will enjoy an extraordinary behind-the-scenes glimpse at the production and a chance to interact with Clara, Drosselmeyer, the Sugar Plum Fairy and many other beloved characters. Activities also include arts and crafts. Activities are included in the ticket price.

Military Appreciation Night: Wednesday, December 9, 7PM

The Washington Ballet teams with the USO to bring the magic of The Nutcracker to more than 400 service men and women and their families for Military Appreciation Night. Guests will be greeted at the historic Warner Theatre by military dignitaries and cast members. Before the performance, guests will be treated to an exclusive behind-the-scenes rehearsal of The Nutcracker 'Soldiers Marching.' On this night, all in attendance are encouraged to wear red, white and blue.

The Nutcracker Tea: Sunday, December 13, Immediately following the 1PMPerformance

A quintessential Washington, D.C. holiday tradition, the Tea Party will be held at Willard Intercontinental Hotel (1401 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW) which will be turned into a winter wonderland for the afternoon. Guests will be greeted by costumed cast members, participate in holiday entertainment and enjoy an elegant plated tea with white glove service and a buffet of treats. Guests will also have the opportunity to meet many of the Company's dancers and pose for photographs with members of The Nutcrackercast.
