UNITY Charity will celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Breaking the Cycle, an annual 2 vs 2 breakdancing battle, with a weekend of special events on Friday, April 4 and Saturday, April 5 at Tattoo Rock Parlour, featuring some of the best breakdancers and beatboxers from around the world.

On Friday, April 4, Breaking the Cycle, a dynamic night of 2 vs 2 bboy/bgirl dance competitions, will celebrate 10 years with 32 teams facing off to become the champions! In honour of the Japan-Canada youth exchange that took place this past September, Breaking the Cycle will also include a special Japan vs Canada showcase battle with appearances by two-time R16 Korea champion Bboy Issei and Dance@Live 2014 Japan finalist Bgirl Ayane, who are coming to Canada on behalf of RAW SKOOL, a Tokyo-based youth community project.

On Saturday, April 5, UNITY and Beatbox Canada will present the first annual Great North Beatbox Battle. Hosted by Canadian Beatbox Champion Scott Jackson, this all ages event will have 16 beatboxers from across North America compete for the inaugural Great North Beatbox championship title. Judges for this event include Stomp's Troy Sexton and two-time Grammy Award winner Scratch.

Founded in 2007 by Michael Prosserman aka "Bboy Piecez", one of Canada's most preeminent B-boys, UNITY Charity engages youth 10 to 18 by implementing school and community programs designed to teach positive self-expression through beatboxing, breakdancing, spoken word, poetry, graffiti, and more. Since it was founded, UNITY has reached over 100,000 youth across Canada.
