Rhythmic Motion is an evening length dance concert exploring the body as an instrument in movement and the rhythmic interconnections of movement and music. This intimate concert brings the audience close to the dancers in the beautiful wood floored Headwaters Home Studio in Greenough Park. The concert explores the use of body percussion, vocals, breath, live music, designed sound scores, and a range of sound creation within contemporary modern movement. It also incorporates Dance for Camera elements through dance for camera videos and the interaction between projection and live dance.

The rhythmic sensations and vibrations of movement intrigue choreographer, Arina Hunter. She is investigating the conversation and relationship between movement and sound. Rhythmic Motion is her culminating senior project for her BFA in Dance. She is producing the concert on her own as a beginning professional experience. Arina is working with a cast of five dancers along with tech designers including sound and lighting.

The concert features a range of pieces that explore a wide variety of live sound creation and designed soundscapes through contemporary modern movement. It is an innovative exploration of a movement language developed through sounds and movement coming and interacting together. The work is textured, powerful, expansive, detailed, layered, and passionate. Rhythmic Motion is family friendly and fun for all ages.

The Concert features:

  • Rhythmic Soul: a dynamic solo utilizing body percussion as the sound score within expansive powerful movement

< >Zoop!: an interconnected trio of women crafting a live dance for camera through quirky, playful vocals Vibe: a funky vibrant quartet with an interactive soundscape created from found sounds
