Ms. Amaya first appeared on stage with her parents' dance company, and by the age of 15 she was touring and performing internationally. She attended Boston Conservatory, where she received a bachelor's degree in dance and choreography. She founded the Omayra Amaya Flamenco Dance Company, which became the focus of various documentaries and movies. In 2008, the company received various awards including a proclamation by The City of Miami declaring August 15 as The Omayra Amaya Day. Omayra Amaya performed a duet with Steve Martin in the 2009 film Pink Panther 2, and in 2013 she performed in Lincoln Center with The New York Philarmonic.
