"This year's concert appearance at Belleayre Mountain means so much to me both personally and professionally. It reminds me of the wonderful days I spent in one of the most beautiful parts of the world I have ever experienced. It was during the most intensive time of my vocal studies. Just as the famous opera singer, Amelita Galli-Curci who resided in this region and for which the road in Highmount is named - I, too, inspired by her story, listened to the birds in the woods outside my parents' home in Arkville in order to improve my singing technique." - Cristina Fontanelli

Award-winning Singer/PBS-TV host (also CBS-TV) Soprano Cristina Fontanelli (www.cristinafontanelli.com) returns to headline at Belleayre Mountain. In 1993, Ms. Fontanelli was the Belleayre Mountain Music Festival's first solo artist to ever perform there when she appeared as soprano soloist with the Brooklyn Philharmonic under the baton of Maestro John Covelli. Ms. Fontanelli came to the attention of the Brooklyn Philharmonic and the Belleayre Mountain Music Festival as the daughter of former residents of Margaretville/Arkville, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Chenel, who owned the business "The Village Locksmith" in Margaretville. Ms. Fontanelli's appearance at Belleayre was mentioned in the book written by the head of the Brooklyn Philharmonic, Maurice Edwards "How Music Grew in Brooklyn". She then went on to become a highly acclaimed singer and PBS-TV and CBS-TV host, traveling throughout the United States and the world in major concert halls, opera houses, music festivals and nightclubs. She has performed at the Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center, the Philadelphia Academy of Music, Symphony Hall in Boston with the Boston Pops; with the Palm Beach, Cairo, NY and New Jersey State Opera(s) and throughout Europe, the Far East and the Middle East. Ms. Fontanelli has sung at the Clinton White House and for the Inauguration of President George W. Bush and has received numerous awards including the Lifetime Achievement Award in the Arts from the Order Sons of Italy in America (previous honoree Luciano Pavarotti). She has appeared as PBS-TV host for Andrea Bocelli "Live From Central Park" and "Il Volo Takes Flight and many other specials. She is currently featured oppositeTV Comedy Star Kevin James in CBS-TV's Fall of 2016 season promo commercial.
