Soprano Jenny Hayden To Perform At Hoff-Barthelson Art Recital Series, 2/12

Soprano Jenny Hayden will perform a program of German lieder, French chansons and operatic arias on Hoff-Barthelson Music School's HB Artist Recital Series on Sunday, February 12, 2017, at 5:00 pm at the Greenville Community Church, 270 Ardsley Road, Scarsdale. Joining Ms. Hayden will be fellow Hoff-Barthelson faculty member, pianist Hélène Jeanney.

Included on the program are works by Franz Schubert, Johannes Brahms, Claude Debussy, several selections from Francis Poulenc's song cycle La Courte Paille, and excerpts from Gian Carlo Menotti's comic opera The Telephone. Program subject to change.

Admission to the recital is $18, $15 for seniors (65+) and free of charge to HBMS students and students 18 years of age and younger. Tickets are available for purchase at the door, or can be ordered by calling 914-723-1169, or by e-mailing hb@hbms.org. Tickets to a series of three recitals are available at a reduced rate.

About Jenny Hayden:

Soprano Jenny Hayden is an artist equally at home in concert and opera. As a leading soprano in the opera house in Trier, Germany, she delighted audiences with her performances in Die Fledermaus, Hänsel und Gretel, Boccaccio, Gianni Schicchi, and Gräfin Mariza, among many others. Ms. Hayden performed in Cracow, Poland, as soprano soloist in Bach's St. Matthew Passion with the renowned chorale-ensemble Capella Cracoviensis. She also gave performances in Vancouver and Italy, where she was invited to perform on the memorial concert for the late father of Sir Antonio Pappano.

Since her return to the U.S., she has turned her attention to recital and chamber music performance. Ms. Hayden has made numerous appearances with the chamber music ensemble An die Musik, performing in Jon Deak's Rapunzel, Jerzy Sapievski's Aesop's Fables and Bruce Adolphe's Little Red Riding Hood, as well as the world premiere of Matthew Kajcienski's Rumpelstiltzkin. Her other U.S. appearances as guest artist include The Yale Center for British Art, Silvermine Festival, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Marlboro Music Festival, Aspen Music Festival, Chautauqua Opera, Chattanooga Opera, Treasure Coast Opera, West Virginia Symphony, and Walla Walla Symphony.

Ms. Hayden attended Sarah Lawrence College (B.A.) and the Eastman School of Music (M.M.), where she received a special grant for study in the Paris studio of the veneratEd French song specialist Pierre Bernac. She credits her passion for recital repertoire to both Pierre Bernac and Jan DeGaetani, with whom she studied while working for her Masters degree. Ms. Hayden has been a member of the faculty at Hoff-Barthelson for 13 years.
