Poets Richard Vargas, Lauren Camp and John Macker Set for Reading, Signing at Teatro Paraguas, 5/18

New Mexico poets Richard Vargas, author of the newly published Guernica Revisited, Lauren Camp, author of The Dailiness, and John Macker author of Underground Sky and The Royal Road: Impressions of El Camino Real, will read from new work and sign their books on Sunday, May 18th, 5:30 p.m. at Teatro Paraguas, 3205 Calle Marie, Ste B. Santa Fe, NM, 87507. Admission will be free and refreshments will be served.

Richard Vargas was born in Compton, CA, He earned his B.A. at CSULB, where he studied under Gerald Locklin. He edited/published five issues of The Tequila Review, 1978-1980. His first book, McLife, was featured twice on Garrison Keillor'sWriters Almanac, in February, 2006. A second book, American Jesus, was published by Tia Chucha Press, 2007. His third,Guernica, Revisited, was selected by Pam Uschuk and William Pitt Root as part of the Press 53 Silver Concho Poetry Series, and published April, 2014.Vargas received his MFA in Creative Writing from the University of New Mexico, 2010. He was recipient of the 2011 Taos Summer Writers' Conference's Hispanic Writer Award, and was on the faculty of the 2012 10th National Latino Writers Conference. Currently, he resides in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he edits/publishes The Más Tequila Review.

Lauren Camp is the author of two volumes of poetry, most recently The Dailiness (Edwin E. Smith, 2013), selected by World Literature Today as an "Editor's Pick." Her poems have appeared in Brilliant Corners, Beloit Poetry Journal, Linebreak,Nimrod, J Journal, and elsewhere. She hosts "Audio Saucepan," a global music/poetry program on KSFR 101.1FM Santa Fe Public Radio, and writes the blog Which Silk Shirt. www.laurencamp.com

John Macker, originally from Colorado, has been an award winning poet and short story writer for over 25 years. His work continues to appear in magazines and anthologies throughout the U.S. and Canada. His most recent book is The Royal Road: Impressions of El Camino Real with woodblock prints by Colorado artist Leon Loughridge. He is also the author ofUnderground Sky, Woman of the Disturbed Earth, Las Montanas de Santa Fe and Adventures in the Gun Trade. His latest, Disassembled Badlands will be published in 2014. In 2006 he edited the anthology, Desert Shovel Review. In 2009 his books were featured in the exhibit, Mile High and Underground, sponsored by the Colorado Historical Society in Denver. His poetry has been nominated for several Pushcart Prizes and in 2006 he won mad blood magazine's first annual literary arts award for his long poem, "Wyoming Arcane."
