Boston Center for American Performance and New Repertory Theatre present Baltimore, February 10-28, 2016 at the Boston University Theatre Lane-Comley Studio 210, 264 Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA. Tickets are $20-30 and may be purchased by calling 617-933-8600 or visiting bostontheatrescene.com.

The press opening will be Friday, February 12 at 8:00pm.

Baltimore will be the second play commissioned under the New Play Initiative from the Big Ten Theatre Consortium. Big Ten plays produced in this series address the under- representation of women in theatre and provide substantial female roles particularly suitable for college-age actors.

Special talkbacks have been scheduled after every performance and will include panelists from the Greater Boston community familiar with the issues and themes presented in the play. Please check newrep.org or bu.edu/cfa/bcap for updates.

"Boston Center for American Performance and New Repertory Theatre are thrilled to partner once again on an extraordinary new work," says New Rep Artistic Director, Jim Petosa, who also serves as Director of the School of Theatre, College of Fine Arts at Boston University. "Both organizations are committed to presenting timely and compelling works, and Baltimore certainly fits that mold. Playwright Kirsten Greenidge's work has a transformative power and her style captures an essence that is unmatched by few contemporary playwrights. It is a testament to her skills as a playwright that Baltimore continues to evolve as the issues inherent to the work do as well. We welcome all to engage with us in conversation during the run of this production as it probes the complex issues surrounding race and racism in our country today."

After she's dismissed from her job in the athletics department, Shelby Wilson becomes Resident Advisor to a group of freshmen-after all, it'll look good on her resume. She soon discovers that a racially charged incident has set student against student, and it's up to her to mediate the situation. In this world premiere production, playwright Kirsten Greenidge explores the complexities of racism from the perspective of eight culturally diverse college students.
