Mill 6 Presents the New England Premiere of Bunbury: A Serious Play for Trivial People
Opens May 1st 2009, at the Factory Theatre in Boston
When he finds out that he is only a fictitious character who never appears in The Importance of Being Earnest, Bunbury uses his double anonymity to infiltrate and alter classic literature, starting by accidentally giving Romeo and Juliet a happy ending. The resulting transformation of such classics as The Three Sisters, A Streetcar Named Desire, Waiting for Godot, and even Edgar Allan Poe's The Raven spawns a new sub-discipline in literary criticism and may even change the world. A comedy that proves everyone's life means something--even if they don't exist!

"Jacobson has delivered a seriously clever meta-theatrical comedy and an unexpectedly moving ode to the mysterious powers of art and love." - Daily Variety

Artistic Director John Edward O'Brien and IRNE nominee Barlow Adamson will direct. Mikkel Raahede (last seen with Mill 6 in our 2008 production of Marc Chun's Match) will play the title role.

Tom Jacobsen has had more than 50 productions around the country. His plays Sperm at Circle X and The Orange Grove at Playwrights Arena were Critic's Choice in the Los Angeles Times. He is a co-literary manager of The Theatre @ Boston Court, a founding member of Playwrights Ink, and a board member of Cornerstone Theater Company. The Road Theatre Company's 1998 production of Tainted Blood was winner of seven Valley Theatre League Awards and their 2004 production of Ouroboros won the Garland Award for playwriting, the LA Weekly Awards for playwriting, and Production of the Year. Bunbury was Critic's Choice in Variety, Back Stage West, and the Los Angeles Times, and was nominated for a GLAAD Award.

Joining Mikkel Raahede in the cast of Bunbury: A Serious Play for Trivial People are Jonathan Michael Anderson, Shelley Brown, Sasha Castroverde, Nathaniel Gundy, Marc Harpin, Becca A. Lewis and Forrest Walter.

"Mill 6 is one of those little companies with big talent". - Theatermirror.com
