Due to the overwhelming response to last season's reading of AN ILIAD, directed by Julie Ritchie and performed by Matthew Cameron Clark, Boise Contemporary Theater will have an encore performance tonight, February 25, 2014 at BCT. The play, by Lisa Peterson and Denis O'Hare, is adapted from Homer.

"Every time I sing this song, I hope it's the last time." So says The Poet (Matthew Cameron Clark) as he digs deep to sing Homer's epic story of war, honor, violence and the Greek siege of the city of Troy. He's told this story for centuries, conjuring the heroes and battles for different cultures and eras. Now in the shadow of war in Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria, he unleashes the story's power for a modern audience. As The Poet recites, comments and chats, he compels his audience to connect with his story, to feel what he feels, to believe in the importance of this story. Maybe if he tells the story one more time, the violence will end.

After the reading participate in a discussion with Matthew Cameron Clark to complete your evening. This reading will be performed in Boise ONE NIGHT ONLY, February 25th. Tickets are $10 for Students and $12 for Adults and available at BCTheater.org.

Other performances will be held at Challis Middle School in Challis (February 23rd), Liberty Theater in Hailey (February 24th at 7pm), and at the Alpine Playhouse in McCall (February 27th at 7pm.)
