Well, I was hoping for Jersey Boys each of the past two years, but instead was left with Grinch. God only knows how they'll fill that schedule next season
When I was in the lobby during Chorus Line, I heard an older couple mention to a Hippodrome woman that this year's lineup was too "kid-friendly" and they were hoping for more variety next year. The woman said she had been hearing a lot of that. The couple asked about Jersey Boys and the woman didn't really say yes or no, but she mentioned something about JB having an extended engagement in DC. (I'd think that'd hurt our chances.)
I gave up waiting and went to NYC to see JB. :)
This is my 3rd year of being a subscriber, but my group of friends that got tix together has gone from 10 to 8 to 4 over those three years due to the lineups. I hope we have a good year next year...I'm not sure I'll renew for an iffy lineup again. I mean, the prices are decent - we pay for 7 shows what I pay for 2 shows in NYC but still...
Not that it really affects me (I am in Europe until May and I don't plan on being in Baltimore until August), but I am from Maryland (kind of. I moved there when I was 8, but I still call Maryland home) and I kind of care about what shows my family will be seeing! I can't see why JB can't come to Baltimore finally. I also think that "Wicked" should return. What new tours are there? "Xanadu" hasn't announced any East Coast venues yet, have they?
You might get your wish,musicaltheatrefan3. I talked with an someone from the Hippodrome before Grease last Thursday. It seems they are trying to get a return engagment of Wicked, and negotiating for In The Heights. I was also told that you probably shouldn't expect to see Mary Poppins play in Baltimore until the 2010-2011 season.
I am hoping that Boeing Boeing, Jersey Boys, Xanadu, and August: Osage county are also pursued.

After speaking with an official at the Hipp last night, In The Heights and Young Frankenstein are officially on the 09-10 bill. Also, Phantom will do a five-week run (not a subscriber show).
No Jersey Boys this time around, as well as no Mary Poppins. We were told that there has been a lot of outcry from subscribers about the "kid-friendly" subscriber series (Grinch, etc...), and were told that all six shows (down from the usual seven for subscribers) will be geared toward adults next season.
The full line-up will be announced in April. Updated On: 2/16/09 at 08:56 AM
Some will say I have way too much time on my hands -- and they'd be right!
Here are the 2009-10 schedules for those Broadway Across America cities already announced. It may give you a better idea what we can expect here (for instance, in addition to In The Heights and Young Frankenstein, I'd also maybe expect a repeat of Wicked, along with Dreamgirls and August: Osage County):
Atlanta: Young Frankenstein Spring Awakening South Pacific May Poppins In The Heights
Fort Lauderdale: Fiddler on the Roof Legally Blonde The 39 Steps In The Heights Color Purple Mary Poppins
Houston: Mary Poppins A Chorus Line Cirque Dreams In The Heights Young Frankenstein
Kansas City: Spring Awakening Wicked White Christmas Young Frankenstein A Chorus Line 101 Dalmatians - The Musical
Milwaukee: Spring Awakening Dreamgirls Grease Legally Blonde Wicked
Portland: Fiddler on the Roof August: Osage County Legally Blonde Cats Dreamgirls Cirque Dreams The Lion King
Salt Lake City: Mannheim Steamroller Christmas The Wedding Singer Avenue Q Legally Blonde The Lion King
Tempe: Legally Blonde Phantom of the Opera Little House on the Prairie - The Musical Annie August: Osage County Marry Poppins Avenue Q The 39 Steps In The Heights
I've never posted here before, but I thought I'd de-lurk long enough to pass along some information I found (some of which is already known):
I went to the Hippodrome Sunday 3/29 to watch CATS, and while I was there I talked to someone who worked there (I don't know exactly what her position was, but she wasn't an usher, as she was carrying a walkie-talkie, was wearing business-casual clothes, and had a badge hanging around her neck).
Anyway, when asked when the line-up for next season's shows was going to be announced, she said April 23.
I then asked if she had any idea or guesses as to what some of those shows might be. She said the only thing official she could tell me was that which has already been posted: Young Frankenstein, In The Heights, and The Phantom Of The Opera as a special. Were she to tell me anything else, she said, she'd have to kill me.
Knowing this, I decided to mention the fact that I'd read rumors/speculation online "somewhere" that there was a possibility of Wicked coming back. She said that wasn't a "reliable" rumor and that it likely wasn't going to happen.
Yes, I know she could have been saying that just because she wasn't able to confirm anything if it was true, but I just thought I'd share it anyway to let you all make of it what you will.
I shall now retreat back to my solitude of message-board-lurkdom.
Although it's not up on any website yet, a friend of mine is in the Fiddler on the Roof tour and told me it is scheduled to play Baltimore in October. I don't know if that will be part of the subscription or a special offer.
I can't believe they actually posted the renewal information without the shows. At least they decreased the price from last year to account for the fact they dropped the number of shows from 7 to 6. Now, an announcement please!
