You're quite elegant about everything except the specifics of McBurney's production. He's one of those old fashioned British "theatre-makers," known very much for movement pieces and other highly stylized works. How does he stage this production?

Robert....since Xanadu is closing I decided to pick a play for my third show during my visit in November. I am curious if you have seen Equus or A Man For All Seasons. If so out of these three which do you recommend as the most "must see"? Thanks

Keep writing but be carefull of your love of words.
I wanted to hear more about the dramatic line of the play than the history of the Nuclear Family, which you may be refering to in a different context than it is known for.
Wiest is maybe the most brilliant Actress walking the Earth (sorry, Helen Mirren)
I'm glad Katie is keeping up with her peers and Maybe if those Masked protesters could kidnap her she could become a fine actress.
Thanks for your views, Robert.

How were the technical aspects of the show? was it sold-out?

Has anyone tried to student rush this yet?

A review on the ATC site was diametrically opposed to yours but noted several innovative directorial touches - film clips, actors visible off-stage waiting to go into their scenes, etc. which imply a director not entirely convinced by the play.

And who on earth considers All My Sons superior to Death of a Salesman?

Thanks guys, I'm not sure about student rush...sorry.

But, to me, the innovative directorial touches do not take away from the show and drama at all, do not break the move and compound the viewer's interest in certain sequences.

I rushed the show on the 20th. It starts at 11, not 10 when the B.O. opens. It wasn't busy at all. $26.50 I believe. The seats are all the way to the right and left of the orchestra, meaning the box seats and the walls obstruct your view of the back wall (which is semi-vital to much of the action). However, it was not at all a bad experience. No acting takes place back there. So student rush is absolutely worth it. I'll be doing it quite a few more times.

Well, see, I went to the Box Office around 2 on the day of the first preview and the man said "We're almost sold-out, so check back around five." If they're ALMOST sold-out, couldn't they just sell me one of those tickets as a student ticket if student tickets are subject to availability? I don't understand. And is that the only location that student tickets are sold?

In the orchestra, at least, those are the only places the tickets are sold. Mezz might be different. I went on the 20th at 10, asked about student rush, and the man said it started at 11. No denial whatsoever. Maybe the rush wasn't instate yet.

Very true. Well, I guess I'll try again on Tuesday. You don't have to have exact change, correct? Because, for some reason, I thought the Wicked lottery said you need exact change, but I could have just made that up somehow, ha.

Nope. I only had two 20s on me. And since it's a Tuesday, you'll probably be able to move at intermission, which you'll want to do. Trust me. Updated On: 9/22/08 at 01:02 AM

Yeah, here's to hoping! I figured it's the best night of the week to try because it seems like such a random night to see a show.

Personally I greatly prefer All My Sons to Death of a Salesman. I can not STAND Willy Loman as a character or human.

The rush seats are "subject to availability" because, according to the man at The Schoenfeld box office today, they sell the partial view seats for $69.50 in person.

If they sell out of them in advance, there won't be rush, but if they don't, that's always where the seats will be.

The policy is $26.50 (cash or credit card,) three hours before the performance.

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

Yeah, after having to sit in "partial view" seats a couple of times, I got sick of it, and I just bought real tickets using broadwaybox.com - It was only $61 and I was in the farthest possible row in theater, but it was a great seat. I could see everything fine, which is my thing. I hate when I can't see the entire proscenium arch. I feel like I'm missing something. Although, I would love to get a box seat (how do you?).
