The theater is georgeous. Go see it for that alone
If you want to see another theater/church go to 175 th & Broadway Rev Ike . It is now much more than a church but it is middle eastern in design. It is flat out eye popping. i have seen it many times & least time got a personalized tour of it.
For more info on the Hellinger search. I know that I have answered these questions several times before, and I cant imagine how many times Smaxie has answered them.
I attended a church service here while I was on vacation in March 2006. I had no clue until reading this thread that it was an old Broadway theatre, but that definitely makes sense. I sat on the balcony while I was there, and it had a great view of the stage.
Jesus actually was in talks with Jeff and Hunter, but they ended up thinking it was to big of a house.
I think the Trinity is now looking into it as a space that would be nice for Brigadoon. Seeing as how both the church and the show have people that live in the past and only come alive at inopportune times.
(JK, no disrespect to Jesus or his followers, I saw him at a performance of Cry-Baby, and he seemed like a really nice guy.)
A couple of years ago, my wife and I attended an all-day meeting at Rev. Ike's place on 175th. We were mostly in the side chapel, but got a tour of the main church (from the person who moved the organ.) Very nice, and yes, it was a theatre until Rev. Ike bought it.
Ha, I chuckle when I pass the Rev. Ike sign every time I walk to No Parking. I've always thought the building looked cool, but it's never crossed my mind to go inside. Perhaps I should!
