I have some truly excellent news for all is lucky enough to have gotten to catch this limited engagement live, or the majority who missed out... at the stage door tonight following tonight's performance, I had verbal confirmation from three of the actors, that this revival will be preserved on CD following its run. The recording studio is booked for 4/25, and will likely arrive in stores the week of the TONYs... I'm delighted to add Jake and Annaleigh's renditions to the OBCR and 2007 London Recording!!! The final Sunday always brings a lump to my throats when hearing and seeing it live!
If Annaleigh's renditions of the opening and Move On are not recorded for posterity, I'm not sure I'll be able to live with that. The back and forth, will they / won't they, is agonizing.

Or since there hasn't been an official announcement yet, maybe they're not allowed to share via social media. If the cast has a date for the recording studio, that sounds pretty positive!
I caught the matinee a few weeks back. This had always been one of those Sondheim shows that I liked a few songs, but never had any strong feelings about the show. After seeing this production I can honestly say that the two performances being given in this production combined with the sharp focus of the direction made this one of the top five theater going experiences of my entire life.

This is probably the most likely scenario: They don't want to say anything until an official announcement has been made.
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."

It's possible that they plan to record right after they close.

Digital release will be the middle of May, followed by physical release to retailers on June 2nd! Can't wait!!! Jake's "Putting It Together" is one for the ages!!!
If they haven't even gone into the recording studio yet, how could it possibly be ready by mid -May?
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Saw the show last night and was so excited to leave the theatre to this news. The performances really are stunning. But there were many times during the show where I couldn't help but focus on the orchestra, the arrangements were simply heavenly.
