As we know, tonight will have some amazing energy going on due to the Tony Awards. Who is seeing what?

Seeing The Father tonight! Excited!

A couple years ago I bought a ticket to see Ripley after her Tony win. It was for Wednesday, but she ended up calling out for Tuesday, so I saw her first performance back. It was epic!

I don't live in the city, so I've never been to a first show after.  Will be seeing The Humans and Eclipsed this weekend.

Tony Tuesday is my favorite theater tradition.

Hamilton.  With my sister and niece.

Hamilton. Should be fun. I heard it won a few things. Who is seeing a show tonight?

Buying these tickets the day they went on sale was the best decision ever!!  I bought premium and at the time it seemed ridiculous but now they seem super reasonable. Hoping for a standing O after room where it happens. (A handful of people stood last time I saw it.)

Unfortunately I have a little cold but I will be armed with my tissues, hard candies for my throat (which will be pre-unwrapped of course), and water with no ice. I don't have a cough anymore so I hope no one else will even be able to tell, but I still wish I were 100% since I've been anticipating this for months. Who is seeing a show tonight?

Seeing Shuffle Along tonight!!! I'll be cheering on the dancers and the choreography that should have won the Tony.

Hamilton had an energy tonight that brought out the best in everyone.

Special entrance applause, longer 'Bravos' after big numbers, and sustained cheering during the curtain call.

'Quiet Uptown' was the most emotional I've ever seen it.  Not a dry eye.

It's the last time I plan to see this show.  And I loved every moment of it tonight.  Grateful to have this special memory.

The Father was brilliant tonight and Frank seemed genuinely moved by the crowd at the end. My row was mostly younger single ticket buyers which made me happy to see so many young people embracing something that maybe isn't the "hip" show to see.

What a fun night at Hamilton. As NYadgal said, lots of entrance applause and extra cheers at the big numbers. Some people (Diggs, Jackson) got entrance applause multiple times--in the opening number and then their first big number. I think every single person with a solo in the opening number got entrance applause.

I thought I remembered that the music usually started as Leslie Odom Jr. Was walking out, but this time he walked out, and they waited to start the music. Huge pause when LMM came out as well. I thought the audience would never stop cheering. I was very pleased to hear such enthusiastic responses for the ENTIRE cast, not just the winners and nominees.

Leslie's performance seemed like he found a new burst of energy. He was clearly channeling his intense emotions into Burr. It was fantastic and he deserved that Tony. Daveed Diggs likewise seemed more comfortable than ever--he was hamming it up extra where appropriate. When he enters as Jefferson he amped up the crowd even more than usual. And the cabinet battles elicited even more cheers than they normally do.

The Room Where It Happens was my favorite number of the night though. Odom was in top form. Just incredible. I wanted so badly to leap to my feet at the end of the song but I always feel so awkward starting those things. Oh well... The cheers were super enthusiastic.

Jasmine Cephas Jones was out tonight and Sasha Hutchings was in for her.

Was also at Hamilton tonight. Second row, last time was front mezz. Just as incredible but with different highlights. Last time I was enamoured with the lighting which I couldn't see as well this time. Being that close though means the music in the big numbers vibrates throughout your body, felt like a rock concert. Getting to see the tears stream down Leslie's face at the end as well was just incredible. Lin is absolutely amazing at making eye contact, must have done so around 15 times tonight.

Thought Daveed especially was great tonight, even better than the last time I saw him. My first time seeing Rory and he was great. Sasha was good but Jasmine was definitely missed.

Funny, this just reminded me... While I was watching the Tonys, my friends and I became rather depressed while they were going through Best Rivival of a Play. All of the plays were just so depressing (and the music didn't help!) this year in the revival category, but then they did Noises Off and we were smiling again, lol.

That would have driven me insane. I can't stand when people applaud every freaking thing happening. If it's a show closing that's different. For a regular show it's annoying.

But its NOT a 'regular' performance, its the first post-Tony performance, a chance to celebrate for/with the cast.

Pippin,

I hear Billy Porter was out last night. His understudy, Arbender Robinson went on for the first time. How was he?

I was also at Hamilton last night, and it was my first time being there. I picked the first post-Tony performance to attend in the hopes that it would be a special one with the vast majority of the main cast, so I was THRILLED that my expectations were met on both fronts.

The most amazing thing for me was realizing how Renee Elise Goldsberry and Daveed Diggs didn't seem to miss a note all night. Everyone else has moments where you can tell it's LIVE theater, but those two were almost eerily perfect.

I wasn't impressed with Jasmine's replacement (who isn't the usual understudy, if I recall), but she was fine.

Overall...it was so worth every penny.

God that sounds terrible to cheer every solo in the opening, so you end up missing most of the opening number? I hope this was just for Tony Tuesday (I guess the closest to Closing Night shenanigans they'll ever get) but it seems from online reports that this is the norm lately. Has anyone who has been in the past few weeks or months felt this way, that all of Hamilton is just so much shouting and cheering for its own sake, and that you miss an inordinate number of lines?
