Just curious, do big names (e.g., Nathan L., Sutton F., etc.) often have private auditions arranged by their agents/casting directors/producers or do they often attend the regularly scheduled principal role auditions like everyone else? I assume that in some cases, stars may be offered the part outright, but I'm wondering about what happens in other cases. Thanks!

I would suspect many of the big stars would be working with the writers of the show from the beginning of the writing process. Isn't that how besty Wolfe got the Frozen Gig? She was working with the Lopez's and was on the rehearsal track, right?

But, what about already written content? For example, lets say that principal auditions were scheduled for the role of the narrator in a Bdwy revival of Joseph, and Sutton was interested. Would her agent book her a separate audition or would she attend the auditions on the scheduled day/time, like everyone else?
I'm sure if Sutton Foster is interested they have a pretty good idea of whether or not they want her. Lots of times production teams will ask the actor directly if they want a specific person.
Big names don't usually audition, and if they do it's likely arranged...certainly not during a regular call.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
Most of the larger names are offer only but they can and do still audition. Patti Lupone auditioned for "Bullets Over Broadway" because she wanted the role of Helen Sinclair, but hasn't really auditioned for a theatre role in, well, decades before that for Anything Goes.

"Thanks neonlightsxo, that is exactly what I wanted to know!
I was at an audition at Telesy and Co. a couple months back and saw both Beth Malone from Fun Home and Eloise Kropp from Dames At Sea. I also saw and met an ensemble member from Aladdin whose name I can't remember. I'm not sure if this helps, but just my personal story.

I want really want to know that part that they would look at Beth Malone and then someone like Eloise.
