He's too old, but IDGAF -- after his amazing performance in The Normal Heart, I'd be first in line to buy full price tickets.
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."
-John Guare, Landscape of the Body
I had the same reaction as Kad. It's very intriguing to think of Tom being played by a much older self who's been not to the Moon but much further. Or in this case, much, much, much further.
I think this is actually very smart casting. Quinto was SO amazing in the last revival that if another actor around this age were cast it would only likely generate unfavorably comparisons. Mantello is so different and the idea of an older Tom looking back on his life with greater reflection will help set the performances (and productions) apart.
Always trust Sam Gold. The man works wonders and after so many wonderfully outings he has earned the benefit of the doubt with any casting/directorial decisions he makes.
Marie: Don't be in such a hurry about that pretty little chippy in Frisco.
Tony: Eh, she's a no chip!

Still upset that he didn't win the Tony that year.

I really enjoyed the last revival, but not sure, at least for me, it was THE revival. So I'm curious to see Gold's take. I love his direction and sense of design.
