Hello everybody!

I've been a student TDF member for two years now and I have always wondered if the tickets I am receiving from TDF are a pre purchased block of tickets, or if when someone purchases from TDF, then the tickets are removed from the seating chart? I am wondering this because I am always trying to figure out where I am going to be sitting at a show and wether I should look at the seats that are open for purchase, or already purchased on the seating chart for that show, to get an idea of the seats. Anyone ever do this?

Doubt they are pre purchased. Believe whatever seats are not sold and probably will not be are the ones that go to TDF.

Roxy, that would make sense, but I think it has to depend on the show. I bought TDF tickets for Taye Digg's first Hedwig performance, which sold out aa day or so before the show. If they waited till day-of to assign seats I wouldn't have anywhere to sit, so they probably have a block of tickets set aside.

A show releases a certain number of tickets to TDF, let's say 25. It guarantees there will be at least 25 seats to TDF so if the show were to sell all but 25 tickets for the performance, it would pull everything and then be sold out. This gives a show a lot of flexibility since assuming there are more than 25 available, it doesn't need to decide which 25 until a few hours before the performance when seats are actually assigned. It can then try to sell premium and expensive orchestra seats up until the last minute and/or use TDF to pad areas of the house that would look bad if they were empty.
