Has anyone tried the stage door at the Pantages? Wondering if Idina (or the rest of the cast) has been coming out to sign autographs?

Everyone comes out except Idina. We waited 40 minutes after the show.

I'm going tomorrow and am going to try. I'm not getting my hopes up, but it would be nice if she signed. I've seen her in Rent and Wicked AND If/Then on Broadway and no luck!

Me and 7 people people waited 2 hours and 30 minutes after her Hollywood World Tour Concert and met her for only 10 seconds.. her group was rushing her. She signed one thing each for all 8 of us. The show was only 2 hours.. we waited longer. We were hiding in the parking lot cause the security was kicking everyone out.

The security guard (pantages) said that she hasn't stage doored ever.. so far. I went on the 5th LA performance. LaChanze, Anthony, James, and the rest DO come out to sign and chat.

After the craziness of the Broadway stage door, that would have put me off from meeting fans forever.

Hi idina! Love your work! But please be cautious with your voice and don't end up like Julie Andrews.

Doesn't the fact that you had to hide from security guards go to show you that you were probably doing something wrong?? That maybe she didn't want to meet people?

" Given that you were actively avoiding security, I sure hope you were supremely grateful that she bothered to sign that one thing at all. I'm surprised she did. Your "we waited this long so we deserved more" entitlement is showing.

Oh no! I was very grateful. I went alone but I only stayed waiting/hiding (at first) because there was this girl who was OBSESSED with her and was telling all of us that she ALWAYS signs and loves meeting her fans.. we just listened to her and the time went buy fast we were all just big theatre fans and talking about theatre stuff. I'm totally grateful for the autograph from her. I just wanted to meet her and tell her how great she is/was. I was just saying how ridiculous and kind of funny how we waiting 2 hours and 30 minutes after and the show was only 2 hours. It was the longest I've ever staged doored.

maybe the security were told to watch out for that girl. lol

The thing is, besides being an utter toad of a human being, Riedel usually has the least knowledge of the topic in the room. He doesn't usually understand the content or approach of a show, and is always completely and unfailingly socially ignorant, which makes it really infuriating when Susan can't get a word in edgewise. A definitive mansplainer; it's always painful when he has female guests. I watch the show sporadically when I really want to see a guest, because it's the only theatre talkshow we have, but it would be so much better without this hateful clown in a dadcoat. We all thought that they just wanted to go home already. Which is totally understandable :p

From what I understand, she hasn't come to the stage door since the opening stop in Denver. At least I haven't heard of her coming out in Seattle or San Francisco (and I went to one of the last few performances in SF and the guy at the door said he hadn't ever seen her come out once since the show had been there and that she had been leaving through another entrance in the back.

Aw that's too bad. Maybe we will get lucky and I figure it is worth a shot. We're there anyway!

After her abysmal, sleep-walky performance here in LA, it might be better off that she doesn't stage door.

Yikes. Can anyone who's seen Idina in the show lately speak to the above? What the reviewer said about the story and score's mediocrity is nothing new, but generally, Idina's passion in the role has been the indisputable saving grace. Is her exhaustion showing? Saw the show a few times on Broadway and plan to see it in LA during the run-- I'll be quite disappointed if her performance is noticeably uninspired.

" The reviewer may have caught her on an off-night, as all the tour reviews I've seen and word of mouth have been very positive for the cast, if not also the show itself. She was on the Ellen show that aired Monday, so who knows when that was filmed. Though I wouldn't be surprised that she's exhausted at this point; she was filming for the TV pilot during a week-long "break" in the tour and has been known to work on her album in a recording studio even in the middle of the Broadway show.

Some people just love to hate or be 'different' in the case of everyone or 'mostly' everyone is seeing if/then for Idina.. And some don't want to like her.. She was outstanding when I went on the first Friday.

I saw her on November 19th and thought she was AMAZING. She made me cry and gave me chills, and while I know sometimes her live singing can be a bit off, she was on point 100% the entire night and sounded phenomenal, it was everything I could have wanted out of seeing her live. I can only imagine that person wanted to hate it/her or caught her on a less than stellar night

I just saw the show tonight and she was amazing. She IS the show along with LaChanze, Rapp and Snyder. I saw the show on Broadway last year and I have to say that I thought Idina was much more emotional going into her final song than I remember on Broadway. She also has a moment with James Snyder where they got a bit of the giggles during the pregnancy scene that I don't recall from Broadway either. The cast just seemed to really enjoy performing and it led to a fantastic performance for all.

As expected, the entire cast came out and graciously signed for about 20 people, except for Idina. Disappointing, but I guess not a surprise seeing what everyone noted here. Thanks for the input guys!

The LA Weekly review notes, as others have, that the show takes place in: "...a mythically sparkling and crime-free Manhattan...."

Brantley also made this bizarre observation early.  As if this show, whatever its strengths and weaknesses, needed to dramatize some sort of ominous personal threat to these characters.  I lived in Manhattan 24 years, in several locals, and can assure the reviewers that the NYC I inhabited and loved wasn't so very far from the one in "If/Then," a musical comedy after all.  Gee, Bobby isn't mugged in "Company."  The last time I saw a "crime" acknowledging plot turn was in "Seesaw."  It was hoary in 1973, and if we saw a less "sparkling" NYC -- what would it be, smudgy sets? Dirty windows? -- what would it add?  The show has flaws, but it seems strange to carp about its positive portrayal of a diverse and vibrant urban existence.  The show features people of color, LGBTQ characters, without turning anyone into a negative. Yeah, there aren't many financial problems. It's expensive as hell to live in NYC, anywhere.  But we have a wide range of upscale characters here struggling, with real careers and investments.  Let's at least let a musical comedy say that's possible.

II still have flashbacks of stage dooring when the show was on Broadway. What a madhouse that was! My father and I managed to get in front because we got there before the show let out- we had seen the show earlier that week. People were climbing light poles trying to see her. I would not have even bothered going, but I had a print from Wicked's Vanity Fair shoot that was signed by Carole Shelley, Joel Gray, Norbert Leo Butz and Kristin Chenoweth that i really wanted to complete with her signature (I succeeded). I understand her avoiding the stage door after having to deal with it on Broadway.

I saw this on Sunday and completely agree with everything said in this article. Maybe it was an off-day but from the minute she walked on, there was no connection. She just went through the motions, relying on her great voice, but stopping beyond giving anything from there.

Based on cglaid's post and that review, I decided to take my father to see "The Bridges of Madison County" tour instead of this. I wish Idina well on her last couple of stops of the tour.

So you rather see the tour people are walking out of.. According to other reviews.. Over a show where most the obc comes TO YOU?! I guess.. I can't understand that.
