Rep. Aaron Schock (R-Ill.) will resign from Congress amid a controversy over his spending habits, Politico reported Tuesday.

In a statement to Politico, the congressman said he will resign effective March 31.

So long, dearie.

I know that he is out of a job, but is he "out"?

I was just about to post this!

At least now he'll be able to come out.

Well, it's not like it would ruin his political life if he did.

Now he can finally make an honest man out of his roommate.

That's okay. Especially now that he can't do harm.

He can spend more time with his photographer now. And RuPaul's always looking for new members of the Pit Crew...

If only all he had been doing was pooping in diapers with his prostitutes, he'd be the next governor of Illinois.

Shock explained his spending habits are why his friends consider him The Carrie, while his no-nonsense "personal photographer" is The Miranda.

Yesterday afternoon the multiple FB threads on this mofo checking out of his red room made schadenfreude an Olympic sport once again, all topped off, so to speak, by Barney Frank adding "no straight man goes to the gym that much." Oddly enough, only the shallowest of observations serves, Frank's boilerplate bitchery sounding like cutting edge pasquinade. And then last night on MSNBC of all places that sniveling NY Times reporter Jeremy Peters tried to mansplain this political implosion (to Joy Reid, of all people) as "tragic." If this narcissistic imp's descent is tragic, Aristotle is turning over in his urn.

I have to admit I find this final scene a complete let-down.

I was so hoping this story would end in a public coming-out on Ellen's show--complete with her getting him up for some embarrassingly bad white-boy dancing or startlingly good girly twirling--along with a major mea culpa for his anti-gay votes. (That was the part I was really hoping for.)

And maybe, because he was such a Downtown fan, a surprise on-set visit and hug from Lady Rose--or Thomas!

But no, instead we get bad bookkeeping and petty theft (or not so petty).

What a putz. As graceless in his exit as he was in his excess.

Oh dear! To lose your job over a not-very-good imitation of something that was not very good in the first place is rather careless - Congressman Schock should have consulted Girouard.

"...the interior (with the exception of one room) is of a notably lower standard than the exterior."

And on the main hall, "...illiterate and curiously old fashioned".

^ The Downton Abbey office (or--more to the point--the media coverage of it that he arranged) might have been the straw that broke the camel's back, but it's not the reason he's leaving office. It merely opened the door and allowed the more serious ethics violations to come to light.

I love his Republican math. Bill the government for 170,000 miles driven on his car, then sell the car with only 90,000 miles on the odometer.
