Im seeing ads for the new musical It Shoulda Been You opening at the Brooks Atkinson on April 14! I have a feeling this show will be the upset of the season since it seems like nobody thinks its gonna do well. I bet its gonna be critically acclaimed, and grab a few Tony noms! Im so excited to see this show!
This might be sweet, maybe even very sweet -- and while I'll likely catch it, it's not high up on my list.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

Have no desire on seeing even with the talent involved and that tacky marquee just shouts ~ bomb. A friend saw it in NJ and commented on it being dreadfully community-dinner theaterish...just saying.

Sunday in the Park with George
Yes, that's what I thought a few years ago when I saw the names of Harriet Harris, Tyne Daly, Richard Kline, Howard McGillin, Lisa Howard and David Josefsburg in the George St. Playhouse playbill. Then I saw the show.
I hope in the interim they've tinkered with it to the extent that it's now a well-crafted musical.
I like that 3.5 hours on a Sunday seemed way too long for this to not erupt into a conversation, heh...
Seemingly everyone that saw it in NJ isn't sure why it is coming to Broadway, so until we find out why that is the case, I wouldn't be excited by it, or buying a ticket in advance...
Then again, I rarely am excited in advance for future shows. Since, well, I have other shows to be excited to see before then...
Add me to those who saw it at George Street Playhouse and is kind of dumbfounded that it will be on Broadway. I'm just not a big fan of Dinner Theatre productions.
(Admittedly the show had a superb cast -- far better than the show itself deserved in my humble opinion.)
Wasn't that nj production all the way back in 2008? Surely they've been working on it and making it better and better for Broadway. I feel like it's gonna be really great.

I think it was in 2011. We saw it on the day of the October snowstorm which was the year before Sandy. I remember because two years in a row the weather caused Halloween to be postponed in our community. We lost power that day and it was so eerie driving up Rt 1 to New Brunswick with all the traffic lights out.
I enjoyed the show as did my family. Not sure if I'll go again when it opens on Broadway I liked Harriet and Tyne together and I think it's great Tyne's coming back.

We must have different Gods. My God said "do to others what you would have them do to you". Your God seems to have said "My Way or the Highway".
