Hi gang,

I know the collective wisdom of the board will help me prioritize what to see in December and what to save for January. Here are my December picks so far -- I have 6 slots to fill on this trip. So far, here's what I've got:

"It's Only a Play" (loved Nathan Lane in "The Nance" and want to catch him during the run)

"Beautiful" (I keep passing this over in favor of other shows, but would like to see it while Jessie Mueller is still in it)

"The Real Thing" -- Should I see this? It closes before my next trip to NYC.

The rest on my list of ideas, in no particular order: Elephant Man; Curious Incident; Delicate Balance; On the Town; Side Show. Of the revivals, I've only seen "On the Town" in a Reprise production here in LA.

To give you a rough idea of my taste from recent trips, I loved "Bridges of Madison County" "Pippin" and "Gentleman's Guide". Disliked "Once", was a bit underwhelmed by "Kinky" and "Book of Mormon" (probably went in with sky high expectations to both), really enjoyed "The Nance". Found Cummings astonishing in "Cabaret" but not so keen on Michelle Williams. Whole cast of "Glass Menagerie" were superb. Hopefully that helps...

Skip The Real Thing. I've heard only good things about Elephant Man. On the Town and Side Show are spectacular. They're my favorite two shows currently on Broadway right now.

Not to wish any show ill, but I wouldn't delay seeing Side Show just because, unlike other things on your list, there's no guarantee it will be here in January. So, if it is still playing during your December trip, I'd cover your bases if you want to see it...

I'd also hit up Side Show ASAP.

On the Town

And, since you say you love plays, see "Disgraced". It is riveting

Definitely see "Side Show" in December. It's truly wonderful but, as sad as it makes me to say it, I don't think it will last very long.
"On The Town"? Meh.
I'd see Elephant Man first before the other two plays. Skip The Real Thing unless you have nothing else.
If your January dates begin after the 16th, add "Between Riverside and Crazy", at Second Stage, to your list. I saw it this past summer and thought it was extraordinary.

Thank you everyone for the suggestions!
I got tickets to:
- Elephant Man
- It's Only a Play
- Side Show
- Curious Incident
- On the Town

I thought about seeing "Beautiful" but don't think I want to see it badly enough to pay the premium prices for the only seats that seem to be available on a Friday night. Maybe standing room?

Otherwise, I think I will opt for either "Disgraced" or "Delicate Balance."

Go with Disgraced over Delicate
