Was at the Almeida today checking our Mr Burns (great production) chatting with the box office folks I brought up American Psycho coming to Broadway, seems the theaters higher ups were in New York recently discussing plans with a off broadway company for a transfer any ideas where this might be heading? ANd yes the plan is for Matt Smith to come over with it.
"OMG, I like so totes relate to Patrick. He's just like so misunderstood just like me. I'm so totes like the new american psycho lol. They should film it for MTV!"
What's the time frame? Matt Smith is filming "Terminator: Genesis" at the moment and he's rumored to be in the running for a role in Batman vs Superman. Is he really going to turn that down for a role in an Off-Broadway musical?
Time frame seems to be after he is done shooting Terminator so potentially in the Spring, and this seems too flashy a show for Atlantic to be involved with but who knows.
Wrong. A new American play called "Stalking the Boogeyman" will appear in Stage 5. With Heathers closing Stage 1 opens up, and technically with Bubble Show performing on a limited performance schedule, it allows for shows with limited scenic design to come into play there.
I don't know much about "American Psycho" but I agree that it seems too flashy of a show for the Atlantic. I have a feeling it would fit nicely with not only the theatre (Stage 1) but the atmosphere and audience range New World Stages has made for itself. If not, the Lortel would be my second choice!
