Even with a 13%+ hike in attendance, HOLLER is still only getting 15%+ of its potential. And at $30 avg tix price, I am kicking myself for the $59 I spent (discounted!) for a seat later this month....
In addition to the Fran drop, the week of the Fourth is always the worst week of the summer. It will be significant to see if it bounces back a bit this week. But having said that, it was a huge decline, for sure.

Ouch, Cinderella. I know it's the week of the 4th of July, but a 200k drop is rough. Hopeful that next week is better as the show is a great one to have on Broadway. Why the heck they replaced Carly and Fran though with two unknowns (to the non-theater world) still surprises me.
On a side note, I wonder if they'll ever stunt cast Topher. I feel as if there are more casting possibilities there as the role isn't as large as Cinderella. Also, I wonder if Janelle Monáe has a big enough fanbase to join as Cinderella. She'd make a stunning Cinderella and definitely has a voice.
"The height of optimism: Buying Holler tickets several weeks in advance."
More so that I am a complete-ist. It will, unless it makes it to July 27th, be the only new musical production to open on Broadway that I haven't seen in more than 5 years.
It's amazing that Holler has remained open with such low grosses. As others have mentioned, this show seems to have a limited appeal and caters to a fairly specific audience. Certainly Cinderella and Bullets need some box office love.
"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)
I'm not avoiding Holler because of the cast or Tupac or anything beyond people saying the book sucks, all the action/drama happens offstage, and there's a good show in there, and all of these other clues that indicate that I won't enjoy it, etc., etc. A talented, professional cast singing and dancing well isn't enough for Broadway, unless it's a revue.
Interesting that Rocky is in the top ten for total attendance for the week with a very low average ticket price which means heavy discounts, TDF and papering. Yet it also means people will go - just not for top dollar. Eventually even discounts and papering reach a limit but not yet for Rocky. Glad to see there's an interest sad to see there no profit in that interest.
I adore Janelle Monae and think she would be incredible, but I'm not sure if she fits Cinderella. She would be great in a revival of The Wiz (the thought of her singing "Home" gives me the chills). I also for some reason think she'd make an offbeat but fantastic Sally Bowles.
"I saw Pavarotti play Rodolfo on stage and with his girth I thought he was about to eat the whole table at the Cafe Momus." - Dollypop
In case you missed the massive campaign Rocky has been doing for the past two weeks, they sold a ton (if not most) of their seats for just $40 for the week of the 4th of July. Good for them for taking advantage of a historically slow week to be strategic and be in the top ten last week! Congrats!
