Just got back from the 11 pm show and WOW. Being a huge fan of the show and seeing it multiple times on Broadway and in London, I was still blown away by how incredible tonight was. The score is still so beautiful and to hear it sung live in this type of setting was magical. Matthew Rowland IS Euan Morton as Boy George, he was perfect!! Jeffrey Carlson is still so fun as Marilyn and Samuel Buttery was hilarious as Leigh. Jeremy Kushnier did a great job considering he had never been involved with the show (I would still take Raul's version of "Petrified" over anyone's). Had not seen Cary Shields on the stage in forever and he brought the house down with "I See Through You" as did Liz McCartney singing "Talk Amongst Yourselves". We even got an encore of "Karma Chameleon" to end the night! Such a fun time for anyone that was there and you could tell how thrilled the cast was throughout the show.
Did not see Boy George but I know he was at the 8 pm show tonight! We were sitting next to Hunter Foster!
Would it help to know that apparently Boy George and Mark Davies Markham are re-working the book, and are planning to stage a new European production (based on Boy George's message on the program from 54 Below)?
Was the sound as awful in person as it sounds in the video? I love the score and those backup vocals seem stronger/louder than the music. The video sounds worse than my bootlegs. I mean- than my completely legal cast recording...
Cary Shields looks rough.
