I saw the show on Saturday (1-25) night with Chris. He was terrific. I also saw it with Terrance last summer. Both are phenomenal actors and I equally enjoyed their performances.
I saw Pippin a while back with Terrence Mann, and loved the show. I'd like to see it again but it would be fun to see it with Christopher Sieber, based on having seen him in previous shows and having met him here in NJ. It would be nice if the Pippin site would post when Mr Sieber is on.
She was serviceable, but still needs some time to get grounded in the role, I'd imagine. Her dancing was strong, but her voice didn't cut through at times. Her act 1 fell flat for me, but she really picked it up during act 2. Unfortunately, how the leading player makes an impact at the beginning of act 1 really sets the tone for the evening.
Have to agree about Terry last night. And he a MJT completely lost it on an ad lib. Although it seemed like MJT also lost it with Rachel Bay Jones a few times Last night was just plain fun
Also thought Annie Potts was a great Berthe and like her way better than Tovah
They have two sets of Playbills. One for Christopher Sieber, and one for Terrence Mann.
I saw it Saturday 1/25 matinee and Christoper was in it. I saw it again on the 29th and it was Terrence Mann. (Family and friend birthday celebrations - I don't typically see a show twice in a week!!)
Agree with dtzumbrunnen's review of McClinton.
I was able to attend the Talk Back with the acrobats after the show on 1/29, which was a real treat!
(Oh, and agree about Mann being tongue-tied in War is a Science!)

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
Darn! I was hoping to catch Sieber in this in early April.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
Christopher Sieber was on as Charles last night. He was not listed in the Playbill, but had his photo and bio on a separate insert.
He starts his stint in Matilda on March 18th
Dean: Can I tell you something?
Lorraine: That depends on what it is.
Dean: I think you're really really pretty.
Lorraine: (after a pause) Ok, you can tell me that.
weird maybe when terrence isn't feeling good or something they call in chris to understudy instead of the listed understudies. Maybe they are too young
so Seiber's basically been the unlisted standby for Charles(until he joins Matilda).

That, and the listed understudies haven't gone on yet, so maybe if Sieber is available they call him back, while the listed understudies go on only in an emergency (like if Mann and Sieber are both unable to perform that night).
their listed u/s for Charles are Colin Cunliffe & Andrew Fitch. I would guess once Sieber starts Matilda, one of these two will get their chance to go on as Charles.

As to the regular covers for some of the older roles seeming too young--that's not uncommon for the Weisslers. There have been many times in their shows where the have multiple cover tracks that they fill with people already in the ensemble but who they only want to put on in case of emergency. (Hence, Sabrina Harper being a cover for Berthe and going on when Martin or Feldshuh called out, but not during longer planned absences). Since Mann has had several instances during his run where he's gone to WCU to fulfill teaching obligations, they seem to have kept Sieber on hold to fill in as needed.
Back in the GREASE days, when Marcia Lewis wanted to take time off to do CHICAGO at Encores, the Weisslers initially refused because her understudy was a young chorus member. Lewis persuaded Dodie Goodman to come in and do two weeks, and the Weisslers agreed to let her take the time off then. It seems like that was a precedent that's been followed in Pippin.
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."
-John Guare, Landscape of the Body
Wow that is weird if Colin Cunliffe went on for the matinee, but Chris Sieber did the evening performance on Saturday night. Maybe he was unavailable due to Matilda rehearsal or another commitment.
One nitpicking point: While the Chicago revival routinely has ensemble members covering the roles of Amos Hart and Mama Morton that are usually played by older actors, when the revival of Grease! opened, Marcia Lewis' understudy was Patti D'Beck who probably would have been 45-50 at the time. Although any future replacement understudies may indeed have been younger ensemble members.
