During the interview Ms. Lansbury said that she and James Earl Jones are in talks to star in yet another show together next year. Any idea what it could be and does it mean that The Chalk Garden revival is not happening?
There are two good supporting male roles in THE CHALK GARDEN, Maitland and the judge. Some might say that Maitland is one of the leads, although it's probably easier to picture Jones as the judge. In the 1970s London revival. The actors playing those two roles were billed above the title with Gladys Cooper and Joan Greenwood. Neither male role is tiny, and both have their juicy moments, but they might be looking for a different sort of vehicle to do together.
Thank you! I wish Lifetime would adapt Driving Miss Daisy with Lansbury and Jones just like they did with The Trip to Bountiful starring Cicely Tyson and Vanessa Williams.
It amazes me that the stage production of Lansbury and Jones in DAISY wasn't filmed for television and/or DVD. I so regretted being unable to get to Australia, especially when I kept reading how brilliant it was. The only thing that disappointed me about THE BEST MAN was that the play gave them no scenes together. If they do come up with a new project to do together, I really hope that it's in the U.S. I'd love to see these two brilliant pros interact on stage.
Driving miss daisy was filmed. I went to see ms. Lansbury get inducted into the hall of fame at bucks county playhouse and she did say it ended up getting filmed. I don't know if it was filmed for the public or whatever but I distinctly remember her telling us it did get filmed.

That is wonderful to her! Thank you for sharing. It's was a great production and not just a mere acting showcase. One of the best roles of Ms. Lansbury's career, that's for sure.
