Brian was in as Francis Henshall at the matinee today, August 15. I was initially disappointed but found Brian to be fast and funny, with great audience rapport. The cast also seemed to be very supportive. Has anyone else seen Brian in the role? How does he compare with James Corden?
Mac, having seen the show numerous times, could you clarify a question my party had about the audience participation.
While it became very clear that the hotel dining room audience member was a plant, what about the crate movers. I got the clear impression they were not plants, but one of my friends disagreed.
The trunk movers are not EXACTLY plants, but I don't think it's necessarily random. For instance, the second time I saw the show, after one of the men was picked, loud cheering ensued from a section of the orchestra where a bunch of young people were seated. Reacting to the outburst, Corden pointed to the guy, asking, Is he famous? The crowd screamed YES! but I couldn't figure out who he was (and I still can't). But after the show, I saw what seemed to be a talkback about to begin, with the "trunk guy" standing by the stage talking to the assembled young people. It seemed to me that it was a college theater program, and maybe they had arranged for their teacher to be one of the trunk guys.
