LEAP OF FAITH got 1 nomination and it was for Best Musical. Weird...

The best musical nom for Leap is a head scratcher. It received no other noms, not for acting, writing, directing, tech, etc., while others did. Can't figure out how it got the nom over Bonnie & Clyde, Ghost, or even Spiderman.

I really hope ONCE's 11 nominations points to an ultimate Best Musical win.

I'm still shocked that ONE MAN, TWO GUVNORS wasn't recognized for Best Play...

Can't believe Angela Lansbury was snubbed after being nominated by every precursor and getting great reviews. The last time when she wasn't nominated for a Tony was for A Little Family Business 30 years ago, but that show got terrible reviews and closed within a mount.

Pretty much a guarantee. Better get tickets soon.

Honestly, they should have just nominated BONNIE & CLYDE for Best Musical. LEAP got no other nominations. Kind of stupid....

I thought NEWSIES was going to get a ton of noms based how things were going early, but ONCE ended up getting a few more in some of the creative areas, plus the unexpected nomination in Featured Actress. Really disappointed Andrew Keenan-Bolger wasn't nominated in Featured, same with Kara Lindsey (she should have never been considered in Leading). I still think NEWSIES is in great shape to be the night's overall big winner. Same goes for Peter and the Starcatcher. Looks like Disney may have a field day this year.

1. Yes! Danny Burstein & Jan Maxwell

2. Leap got nominated for Best Musical, but Esparza didn't get a nom for Best Actor?! WTH?!

3. Kristin Chenoweth's Orchestration comment was well-timed and quite humorous.

4. Bernadette Peters got the shaft. boo.

5. Congrats to Once

6. No Julie Taymor???? It was a joke at first, but then I found myself actually hoping for it! Rant about the 2012 TONY nominations here

Except it's a Wildhorn show, which means there's no way they'll nominate it for the top award. He has Broadway cooties.

Strangely enough, if BONNIE had opened later in the season, I think it would have taken that last Best Musical slot. Clearly the Best Musical nomination for LEAP OF FAITH if their way of saying "shut up; here's a nomination just because we didn't want to recognize SPIDER-MAN".

It is extremely rare that the musical with the most nominations doesn't win the award. Especially when the others are so far behind. Of course, I did say "pretty much"...

The suprises to me were Laura Osnes for Bonnie & Clyde (happy for her, but surprised Melissa van der Schyff didn't get the nom for best supoosrting actress. No Patrick Page for best supporting actor. Say what you want about Spider-Man, but Patrick steals that show.

The Leap of Faith nomination for Best New Musical is just odd to me. Were they just trying to keep Spider-Man and Bonnie & Clyde out of it?

I think Best Actor in a Musical is between Burstein and Jordan.

I hope Danny gets it.

I agree about the cooties besty, but he got a best score nomination. Which surprised the hell out of me.

Oh, and Lyssie Jones for best book? Really?

LEAP OF FAITH receiving only their nomination for Best Musical is quite odd. GHOST, SPIDEY and BONNIE & CLYDE all received more.

Wish it would've gone to BONNIE & CLYDE, but the nominations for Osnes and Score are well deserved, especially after how god awful WONDERLAND was.

The Tony committee, and the theater community in general, loves Douglas Carter Beane so it makes sense that he got the nomination for Best Book. It was their way to honor Lysistrata Jones.

I think that Melissa van der Schyff deserved a nomination much more than Elizabeth A. Davis. I loved ONCE, but really didn't see her part or her work as something worthy of a nomination. I really don't get that one. I am very happy AND surprised that Osnes was nominated.

Can someone explain Best Original Score (music AND/OR lyrics) to me? I had no idea the lyrics (potentially) factored in to the Best Score category.
