1. Kim is not as "big" a star as she thinks/is promoted 2. the sets are cheap-looking 3. the play is too long and should be edited down; sorry, Sir Noel
Do you know what happens when you let Veal Prince Orloff sit in an oven too long?
fflagg: I completely agree with #3. When I saw the show just before Thanksgiving, the show started on time, act 1 was about 40-45 minutes, the intermission was cut short to 10 minutes, and then the play was over about 100 minutes later. I think that there should have been two 10 minute intermissions to make it a little easier to deal with.
Has anyone there recently seen a merchandise table with posters? When I went, they hadn't received anything yet.
I was just looking at the grosses and wondering about the longevity. Glad I have my tickest for the 26th.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

The tickets were only a few bucks more than what a student rush price would have been and I had a rear but center aisle orchestra seat. It's a small theater so it wasn't bad at all
Rear orchestra was what, $60? That's...not rush price. Anyway, it's a moot point; it's not like rush would have helped them very much.

while now I think other things should have gone first, back in september I actually said to a friend "I just have a feeling Private Lives will be the first thing to close early this season" just grabbed a ticket for the 21st
LOTS of people can get TDF memberships. I haven't been a student for 20 years. I use TDF all the time.

It wasn't a very good production, and certainly unnecessary after the fantastic production with Rickman and Duncan less than ten years ago. Cattrall was miscast and working way too hard. Shirley Phelps and Ricky Martin would have better chemistry than she and Gross. It was a miss all around.
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."

I agree with AC. Not saying that's the reason the show hasn't done well, but with so many great elements adding up to a whole less than sum of its parts (does that phrasing even make sense) and the tepid response the audience gave -- at least the night I was there -- it's not surprising that word-of-mouth hasn't exactly propelled it.
