Terrific New Theatre announces its 32nd season, the second under Artistic Director Tam DeBolt. In September, TNT opens the 2017-18 season with the Charles Busch comedy "The Tribute Artist," and also presents the playwright in a special performance of his own for one night only. In June 2018, the season concludes with the return of TNT co-founder Carl Stewart directing audience favorite Dolores Hydock in a solo performance.

The season roster also includes the musical comedy "Nunsense!" - the second-longest-running Off-Broadway show in history. This production - and the comic drama "The Big Meal" - both will be helmed by directors who are new to the TNT stage. Season 32 also includes TNT's traditional "TBD," a surprise announcement later in the season; this will be one of two shows directed by DeBolt. (The full slate of shows, dates and directors is listed below.)

TNT's 2017-18 Season

THE TRIBUTE ARTIST Sept. 14-Oct. 7, 2017

Written by: Charles Busch

Directed by: Bethe Ensey

This new play by the reigning king (or queen) of Off-Broadway comedy, Charles Busch, is about an out-of-work female impersonator who, when his elderly landlady dies in her sleep, takes on her identity in order to hang on to her valuable Greenwich Village townhouse. This "perfect" scheme goes awry and leads to a wild path of twists and reversals plotted by an eccentric gallery of outrageous schemers.

BONUS SHOW: Charles Busch is coming to TNT - Saturday, September 23, 2017 - to perform! More information on this incredible evening will be available soon.

THE BIG MEAL Nov. 2?18, 2017

Written by: Dan LeFranc

Directed by: David Strickland

Somewhere in America, in a typical suburban restaurant on a typical night, Sam and Nicole first meet. Sparks fly. And so begins an expansive tale that traverses five generations of a modern family, from first kiss to final goodbye. This stunning, big-hearted play tells the extraordinary story of an ordinary family.

NUNSENSE! Jan. 18?Feb. 10, 2018

Book, lyrics & music by: Dan Goggins

Directed by: Pat Anderson-Flowers

The show within the show is a fundraiser put on by the Little Sisters of Hoboken to raise money to bury sisters accidently poisoned by the convent cook, Sister Julia, Child of God. This zany musical aired on television starring Rue McClanahan as the Mother Superior. The sisters sing. The sisters tap. It's fun, fun, fun!

BUYER & CELLAR March 8-24, 2018

Written by: Jonathan Tolins

Directed by: Tam DeBolt

Alex More has a story to tell. A struggling actor in L.A., he takes a job working in the Malibu basement of a beloved megastar. One day, the Lady Herself (Barbra Streisand) comes downstairs to play. It feels like real bonding in the basement, but will their relationship ever make it upstairs? This play is an outrageous comedy about the price of fame, the cost of things, and the oddest of odd jobs.

TBD April 19-May 5, 2018

Directed by: Tam DeBolt

This TBD slot in the season is a longstanding TNT tradition. Tam loves a good secret, and she will let the cat out of the bag as soon as the ink is dry on the contract.

DOLORES HYDOCK (in a TBD) June 7-30, 2018

Directed by: Carl Stewart

Starring: Dolores Hydock

TNT is thrilled to welcome Hydock back to the stage. She was last here as the season closer in July 2016 and, with Carl Stewart as her director, she is making plans to help us close our 32nd season. They are working on something together, and we will be able to share the details soon.
