The game is afoot once again at The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre in Frederick, Maryland as the theatre prepares to host its latest interactive murder mystery event, The First Widows Club, on Friday April 26th and Saturday, April 27th. The First Widows Club will be the newest in a growing list of crime capers from Way Off Broadway and Justin M. Kiska, the creator of WOB's Marquee Mystery series.

In addition to Way Off Broadway's regularly scheduled Mainstage and Children's Theatre seasons, the theatre presents a number of special events each year. Some of the most popular of these events are the interactive murder mysteries where the audience gets involved and helps to solve the case at hand. In recent years, the mysteries have been set to the backdrop of a political campaign, competitive cooking show, a drag night club, and a talent contest, much like American Idol. No subject is safe when it comes to WOB's mystery events.

The Golden Girls meet CSI in the newest and funniest crime caper to come to Way Off Broadway! There is nothing more deadly than a game of Bridge with the Retired Independent Pensioners (R.I.P.); so when these little old ladies must put on a benefit to keep their retirement home open, all the cards are on the table. Each having lived a (very, very) long and active life, they have stories to share and gossip to spread. But when someone's knickers really get in a twist, the question must be asked: Would someone really kill to get a better room? Or even just an extra scoop of Jell-O at lunch? It will be up to the audience to decide "who dunnit" in Way Off Broadway's brand new mystery event, The First Widows Club!

The First Widows Club will be the tenth mystery Kiska has written for Way Off Broadway over the last eight years. Other crime capers that have played at the theatre include The Case of the Oldest Living Showgirl, Murder by Marriage, A Fantasy Fairytale Murder Mystery, and The Class Reunion Caper.

Detective stories and mysteries have been a part of entertainment culture for as long as anyone can remember. From the days of Sherlock Holmes and Agatha Christie to the modern television crime shows of today, everyone loves a good mystery. Everyone thinks they can be the next Sherlock Holmes. At Way Off Broadway, they have that chance.

Way Off Broadway's Marquee Mysteries have become so popular that in 2011, the theatre partnered with the Walkersville Southern Railroad to produce interactive mystery dinner trains on the line throughout the year. This year alone, seven mystery dinner trains are scheduled.
The First Widows Club will have a limited two performance run April 26th & 27th at The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre. Door will open each evening at 6:30 p.m. for dinner. Tickets are $40 per person and may be purchased by calling the Box Office at (301) 662-6600.
Following The First Widows Club, Way Off Broadway has already announced a second interactive mystery for 2013. The Family Fortune Fiasco will play Friday evening, August 9th and Saturday evening, August 10th.
