Rep Stage, the regional theatre in residence at Howard Community College (HCC), ends its 22nd season with Dominique Morisseau's "Sunset Baby," directed by Joseph Ritsch, Rep Stage's co-producing artistic director. When a young woman's father, a former black revolutionary, reappears to obtain a piece of her deceased mother's legacy, he discovers that fatherhood might be the most challenging revolution of all.

"Sunset Baby" premiered at the Gate Theater in London and had its U.S. premiere at New York City's Labyrinth Theater. Playwright Dominique Morisseau is an award-winning writer and actress, heralded by The Huffington Post as a "direct heir to the magical wordsmiths named Lorraine Hansberry, Tennessee Williams, and August Wilson" for her vibrant exploration of the point where the personal and political collide. Her play "Detroit '67" - the first in a three-play cycle on her hometown of Detroit - was the 2014 winner of the Edward M. Kennedy Prize for Drama Inspired by American History. Morisseau is an alumnus of the Public Theater Emerging Writer's Group, the Women's Project Playwrights Lab and Lark Playwrights' Workshop.

"Sunset Baby" opens April 29, 2015, with a limited run through May 17 in the Smith Theatre of the Horowitz Visual and Performing Arts Center (HVPA) on the campus of HCC.
