The Fun Company, Maryland Ensemble Theatre's (MET) family theatre, is now enrolling students for its burgeoning summer camp for kids and teens, Fun Camp. Fun Camp's wildly popular and successful summer camps are an intense, yet fun filled experience for young performers. "Our highly-qualified staff of teaching artists creates an atmosphere of enthusiasm, encouragement and patience for the participants. It is part of our mission to provide our campers with the skills needed to create a positive theatre experience on stage," said Fun Company's Artistic Director, Julie Herber.

Depending on the session, campers spend the first week exploring exercises in acting, improvisation, voice, movement, theatrical design, song and dance. That is followed by a jam packed week of rehearsing for their final performance which is open to the public. Final performances are structured to reflect the individual participants of each session and are created based on their creativity, imaginations and unique characters. Herber said about the final performances, "It takes a great deal of effort to produce a show in this short amount of time and the dedication and stamina our campers display always amazes me!"

The Fun Camp is offering three different two week sessions that will run between June 23 - August 15, 2014. All camps are held Monday through Friday from 10am to 3pm with final performances taking place on the last Friday of the session at 3pm (except July 4 there will be no class and that final performance will be July 5). The first session of the camp will run from June 23 through July 5, the second from July 7 to July 18 and the final session from August 4 through August 15. All sessions are $380 with discounts available for additional family members or multiple camps.

The first and second sessions feature the Musical Theatre Project and will focus on acting, singing and dancing. In Session 1 the Musical Theatre Project will be open to ages 12-16 and Session II will be for ages 7-11. Session II's Musical Theatre Project camp has already sold out and an additional session has just been added. Session 1 and III offers the Creating Theatre camp for ages 7-11, which offers the opportunity to learn about all the elements of a stage production. For ages 12 through 16 the Performance Project camp will be available in Session II. That camp focuses on the creation of original work and like all the camps will culminate in a performance on the MET Mainstage. Lastly Fun Camp will offer Improv Intensive for ages 12-16 in Session III. Students taking this camp will use basic improv exercises, stand-up comedy techniques and scene work to learn how to write and create an original comedy show.

Accompanying Julie Herber will be fellow camp instructors Thom Huenger (MET Ensemble Member and Director of The Ensemble School Music Studio), Karli Cole (Ensemble School alumnus currently attending Coastal Carolina/Accademie Dell'Arte, credits include The Fun Company's A Christmas Carol, The Pirates of Pelican Point, Nellie Darling & the Legend of Nasty, Heidi. The Young Olympians), Tori Weaver (last seen in The Fun Company's Junie B. Jones and Go Dog Go, studied at AMDA/NYC) and Matt Lee (Laugh Station creator/writer/director/actor, Ensemble School instructor, multiple MET credits).
