Maryland Ensemble Theatre's Fun Company presents The World Premiere of THE LITTLEST VAMPIRE October 24 - November 20, 2010

THE LITTLEST VAMPIRE
Vlad Jr is not your typical vampire. His fangs haven't come in yet, the sight of blood makes him squeamish, and is allergic to just about everything. Will he make friends at the Stoker's Academy for the Frightfully Gifted and pass the test...or will be be left behind? With the help of Jerry Wolfenstein, second year werewolf and Francine, the school's cutest zombie, Vlad Jr must find a way to outwit Chad the most popular vampire around. Perhaps with the help of the greatest monster hunter of all time, Dr. Stenopolis, Vlad Jr can win the annual school "Scare Off". But, Stenopolis has gone into hiding. Find out if Vlad Jr and friends find the mysterious doctor in time to defeat Chad in the competition.

WHO? THE FUN COMPANY | MARYLAND ENSEMBLE THEATRE
Fun Company's Artistic Director Julie Herber directs Matt Lee's World Premiere production of The Littlest Vampire. Matt Lee is a former Maryland Ensemble School Member and the founder of Actor's Anonymous who previously wrote My Father the Elf for Fun Company Family Theatre Series. Also an actor, Matt Lee has appeared on the stage a number of times including the MET's productions of Planet Claire and the Cripple of Inishmaan.

Julie Herber directs MET ensemble members Ashley Hall (Francine) and Caitlyn Joy (Nurse/School Secretary/Dr. Stenopolis). The cast also includes Tim Seltzer (Vlad Sr/Teacher/Headmaster Stoker), Karli Cole (Vlad Jr), Tim Eichelberger (Jerry), and Todd Herman (Chad).

The Fun Company is based in Frederick, Maryland and is the family theatre branch of Maryland Ensemble Theatre. Artistic DIrector, Julie Herber has been working with young audiences for over 20 years, providing entertainment, education and support. The company seeks to provide high quality, affordable theatre for the whole family that is both educational and entertaining by presenting a yearly Family Theatre Series, our In School Productions outreach program and Fun Camp.

Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) is celebrating 13 years of producing a full season of professional theatre in downtown Frederick, MD. Since its founding in 1996, its first original production Finally Heard- Feminine Hero's of an Uncivil War in 1997, and first season of plays in a renovated McCrory's (now the Cultural Arts Center) in 1998; the MET has been an artistic leader in the region and at the forefront of the creation of Frederick's Theater District.

WHY?
Julie Herber, The Fun Company's Artistic Director and the show's director says, "Normally Halloween entertainment involving vampires and monsters is too scary or dark for children, like our current mainstage production of Dracula, which is what makes The Littlest Vampire so great. You have all the usuAl Halloween characters but it's a perfect show for kids about kids. The kids in The Littlest Vampire are going through the same challenges and learning the same lessons that all kids do but they just happen to be vampires and werewolves!" The Fun Company Artistic Director continued, "And most importantly the show is a lot of fun. I know kids will love it but it's smart and funny so I think the parents will enjoy it as well. It's a fun Halloween event for the whole family."
