Laurel Mill Playhouse, 508 Main Street, Laurel, Md. will hold auditions for 23 teenagers on Thursday, April 29 at 7pm and Saturday, May 1 at 10am for this Shakespearean comedy. Director Michael Hartsfield requests the teenagers auditioning have twenty to thirty lines of any monologue from a Shakespeare play prepared for the audition. Memorization is not necessary. A Midsummer Night's Dream will run from June 25 through July 18 on Friday and Saturday evenings with two selected Sunday matinees. 

Also, teenagers who want to be involved in costuming, light/sound design and operation, stage managers, set construction and design, and publicity. should come on auditions dates with resume.. Volunteer credit available. This is an opportunity for teens to be a part of an theater experience - whether it be on or off the stage. Bring resume and any conflicts. All roles open.

Teen Shakespeare Theatre is open to teens entering the 8th grade through graduating 12th graders. No charge for participating. Parental help gratefully accepted. Synopsis and description of the characters below.

Moth (sometimes rendered as 'Mote'), fairy

The Athenians:
Theseus, Duke of Athens, good friend of Egeus
Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons and betrothed of Theseus
Egeus, father of Hermia, wants to force Hermia to get married to Demetrius
Lysander, beloved of Hermia
Hermia, beloved of Lysander
Helena, in love with Demetrius
Demetrius, in love with Hermia
Philostrate, Master of the Revels for Theseus
The acting troupe (also known as The Mechanicals):
Peter Quince, carpenter, who leads the troupe
Nick Bottom, weaver; he plays Pyramus in the troupe's production of "Pyramus and Thisbe
Francis Flute, the bellows-mender who plays Thisbe.

A Midsummer Night's Dream is a comedy by William ShakespeareAthenian lovers, a group of amateur actors, their interactions with the Duke of Athens, Theseus, the Queen of the Amazons, Hippolyta, and with the fairies who inhabit a moonlit forest. The play is one of Shakespeare's most popular works for the stage and is widely performed across the world.
