Free Plays, Movies, Workshops, Kids' Games and More Set for OTC Fest

Olney Theatre Center will host the first ever OTC Fest on July 25, 2015. OTC Fest is a free, all-day community event with over 50 local artists presenting free performances, workshops, kids' activities, movies, discussions, food trucks, and more! From 10:00am to 11:30pm, every space on our 14-acre campus is full of activities to entertain and delight people of all ages.

AMONG THE HIGHLIGHTS:

MEET MICHAEL KOSTROFF: At 12:00pm in the Mulitz-Gudelsky Theatre Lab, Michael Kostroff, who plays Max Bialystock in Olney Theatre Center's production of The Producers, will read an excerpt from his book "Letters from Backstage: The Adventures of a Touring Stage Actor" and sign copies of his book. Kostroff is known for his portrayal of Maurice Levy, the defense attorney, on the first five seasons of The Wire, as well as his appearances inLaw and Order: SVU and The Blacklist.

PICNIC AND FREE SHAKESPEARE: Beginning at 6:00pm on the Root Family Stage, patrons can bring their own picnic dinners and enjoy it on the grass right in front of the stage. At 7:30pm, a discussion about A Midsummer Night's Dream and William Shakespeare with Artistic Director and Director of A Midsummer Night's Dream Jason Loewith and Associate Director of A Midsummer Night's Dream and Forum Theatre's Associate Producer Jenna Duncan. Immediately following the discussion there will be a free performance of the National Players' A Midsummer Night's Dream.

TAP MASTER CLASS WITH BOBBY SMITH: Helen Hayes Award winner and local DC-actor Bobby Smith will teach a tap class for experienced tappers ages 12 and up at 11:00am in the Mulitz-Gudelsky Theatre Lab. Registration for this class begins at 10:00am and is on a first-come, first-served basis. Smith is an Associate Artist at Olney Theatre Center and was most recently seen in Cabaret and Kid Victory at Signature Theatre.

FREE MEL BROOKS MOVIES, CLASSES, and READINGS: Other free activities include: Clowning and combat classes for kids with the National Players, readings of two new plays (The Giver by Eric Coble and Dancing Lessons by Mark St. Germain), a dog adoption fair with Beltway Barks, meet the cast of The Producers, a presentation of the shows of 2015-16, and the history of Olney Theatre Center.
