McKenzie Fine Art (511 West 25th Street) announces its summer group exhibition called 'Reader's Delight.' It features painting, sculpture, photography, and works on paper by the following artists: Richard Baker, Mary Ellen Bartley, Erica Baum, Tom Burckhardt, Matthew Higgs, Maira Kalman, Jean Lowe, Martin McMurray, Abelardo Morell, Yohei Nishimura, Mamiko Otsubo, Donna Ruff, and Mickey Smith. The exhibition opens on Thursday, June 24th with a reception for the artists from 6 to 8 p.m. and runs through Friday, August 6, 2010.

With a preview performance on August 19th and its opening August 20th, THE NEW CENTURY plays at Le Petit Théâtre du Vieux Carré in the historic French Quarter on a three week run until September 5th. It will be in the 125-seat Muriel's Cabaret Theatre, an intimate setting for a production that tackles a series of challenging topics with wit and grace, and leaves the most telling questions unanswered. THE NEW CENTURY offers adults a witty child-free night out (content not suitable for audiences under 18). It is a provocative and outrageous adult comedy, featuring a collection of hilarious characters in a sequence of four interconnected short plays.

Primary Stages, in association with Ted Snowdon, launches its 26th season with the New York premiere of SECRETS OF THE TRADE by Jonathan Tolins directed by Matt Shakman. The five-member cast features Amy Aquino as Joanne Lipman, Bill Brochtrup as Bradley, John Glover as Martin Kerner, Mark Nelson as Peter Lipman and Noah Robbins as Andrew Lipman.

Pianist Amina Figarova performs at Dizzy's Coca Cola Club as part of Jazz at Lincoln Center on Monday, August 9th at 7:30 and 9:30PM. Act II Playhouse has named Pam Dickler managing director of the professional theatre company. Originally from Bucks County, PA, Dickler has spent much of the past two decades as part of Chicago's thriving theatrical community as a producer, director, actor and writer.

El Dorado Musical Theatre host a screening of 'Charlie's Closet' on Saturday, August 21st at 1PM. The screening will take place at the Jill Solberg Performing Arts Theater at Folsom High School (1655 Iron Point Rd, Folsom). Tickets are $7 at the door or online $7 plus a $0.50 convenience fee. This is a fundraiser to help support the Producer/Director of this independent film in future film making efforts as well as support for El Dorado Musical Theatre.

Late Tuesday, New York state lawmakers passed the $136 billion budget for the 2011 fiscal year. Within the budget, tax credits worth an annual $420 million were set for film and television production in the state.

The Howard County Arts Council will hold its 21st annual Road to the Arts weekend on September 24th to the 26th. The About Town Tours presents their monthly interactive murder mystery show entitled EVIL ON THE BEACH on Saturday, August 21st at 6:30PM. Westport Country Playhouse present a Sunday Symposium with Tom Jones, book writer and lyricist of 'I Do! I Do!,' following the Sunday, August 15, 3 p.m. matinee performance of the joyful and touching musical spanning 50 years of marriage. Jones, along with music composer Harvey Schmidt, received an Obie Award and a Special Tony Award for 'The Fantasticks.' In 1999, their stars were added to the Off-Broadway Walk of Fame outside the Lucille Lortel Theatre.
