McKenzie Fine Art Closes 'Reader's Delight,' 8/6

McKenzie Fine Art (511 West 25th Street) announces its summer group exhibition called 'Reader's Delight.' It features painting, sculpture, photography, and works on paper by the following artists: Richard Baker, Mary Ellen Bartley, Erica Baum, Tom Burckhardt, Matthew Higgs, Maira Kalman, Jean Lowe, Martin McMurray, Abelardo Morell, Yohei Nishimura, Mamiko Otsubo, Donna Ruff, and Mickey Smith. The exhibition opens on Thursday, June 24th with a reception for the artists from 6 to 8 p.m. and runs through Friday, August 6, 2010.

Le Petit Théâtre du Vieux Carré Presents THE NEW CENTURY, 8/19-9/5

With a preview performance on August 19th and its opening August 20th, THE NEW CENTURY plays at Le Petit Théâtre du Vieux Carré in the historic French Quarter on a three week run until September 5th. It will be in the 125-seat Muriel's Cabaret Theatre, an intimate setting for a production that tackles a series of challenging topics with wit and grace, and leaves the most telling questions unanswered. THE NEW CENTURY offers adults a witty child-free night out (content not suitable for audiences under 18). It is a provocative and outrageous adult comedy, featuring a collection of hilarious characters in a sequence of four interconnected short plays.

Westport Country Playhouse present a Sunday Symposium with Tom Jones, book writer and lyricist of 'I Do! I Do!,' following the Sunday, August 15, 3 p.m. matinee performance of the joyful and touching musical spanning 50 years of marriage. Jones, along with music composer Harvey Schmidt, received an Obie Award and a Special Tony Award for 'The Fantasticks.' In 1999, their stars were added to the Off-Broadway Walk of Fame outside the Lucille Lortel Theatre.
