Bay City Plays Holds Auditions for LAUGHTER ON THE 23RD FLOOR, 8/8 & 9

Bay City Players will hold auditions for its upcoming production, LAUGHTER ON THE 23RD FLOOR, by Neil Simon, on Sunday and Monday, August 8 & 9, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. Auditions will be held at Bay City Players, 1214 Columbus Avenue, in Bay City. The production, co-directed by Tina Sills and Michael Dunckel, will be performed September 24-26 and September 30-October 3, 2010.

Iridium Jazz Club (1650 Broadway at 51st St.) hosts bassist and composer Buster Williams and hishis Something More ensemble from August 6th to 8th. Sets begin at 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. and feature a $25 cover charge. The presentation of flamenco and jazz is entitled 'Spanish Sun - Flamenco Rising', with Mark Gross on saxophone, Eric Reed on piano, Ignacio Berroa on drums, and special guest Adam del Monte on flamenco guitar.

MoMA Present 'The Original Copy: Photography of Scuptures' Exhibt

'The Original Copy: Photography of Sculpture, 1839 to Today' presents a critical examination of the intersections between photography and sculpture, exploring how one medium informs the analysis and creative redefinition of the other. On view at The Museum of Modern Art from August 1st through November 1st, the exhibition brings together over 300 photographs, magazines, and journals, by more than 100 artists, from the dawn of modernism to the present, to look at the ways in which photography at once informs and challenges the meaning of what sculpture is. The Original Copy is organized by Roxana Marcoci, Curator, Department of Photography, The Museum of Modern Art.

Starlight Musical Theatre announce the cast of THE PAJAMA GAME for Starlight's 2nd summertime show which will run from July 15th to August 1st. Leading off the romantic yet torn-apart lovers will be San Diego's own Courtney Corey as Babe Williams and native New Yorker Joey Elrose as Sid Sorokin (Bios of all cast listed below). The comedic and lovable couple, Hines and Gladys, will be played by Joe Joyce, a Broadway veteran, and Rae Henderson, another San Diego native, respectively.

El Teatro Campesino's CORRIDOS!!! TALES OF THE MEXICAN REVOLUTION ends

When Kinan Valdez, the producing artistic director of El Teatro Campesino (ETC), began planning El Teatro's 2010 season, he was inspired to use the working-title 'Raices/Roots' because many of the pieces this season are classic works-or inspired from the classic works-created in the beginnings of San Juan Bautista's world-renown, all original, theater company. At the same time, Valdez is also creating new works to add to the company's artistic arsenal. The newest work created by Valdez is ‘Corridos!!! Tales of the Mexican Revolution,' which begins June 18 at El Teatro Campesino's playhouse in San Juan Bautista.

Play Nice, a campaign promoting responsible sex among MSM (men who have sex with men, including gay, bisexual and heterosexual men) announce the launch of the second annual photographic exhibition entitled 'Taking a Risk for Safer Sex' which will be displayed at Cafe Manhattan in Green Point until July 31st. The exhibition features commissioned photographs of over fifty Cape Town men, either naked or semi-clothed, supporting the campaign's focus on men's sexual health and HIV prevention.

This highly original and theatrical Caribbean adaptation of the popular fairy tale 'The Little Mermaid' garnered eight Tony nominations for its Broadway run, including Best Musical, Book and Score. It is a story of life, pain, love, grief, faith, and hope.
