In an era post Glee which brought gender and sexual identity to the forefront of teen minds each week, The Real O'Neals is unique as it's one of the only shows which airs on a major network during primetime where the protagonist is a teenage boy who happens to be gay.

Fans have been eagerly anticipating a MEAN GIRLS musical, which has been in development for several years. At the 10th Anniversary celebration of the comedy film, Fey and her husband, composer Jeff Richmond, said they were hoping MEAN GIRLS will hit the stage in time for -- or ahead of -- its 15th anniversary, which will be in 2019. It looks like that might happen, because a new, verified Mean Girls Twitter account has just announced some big news:

Having narrowly escaped certain death it appears their luck has finally run out. With the zombie slowly nearing, they contemplate survival, fear, humanness, and their relationship with each other. Unique in its use of narrow staging and single setting to convey the feeling of claustrophobia and impending doom, DEAD END follows in the suspenseful and darkly comedic tradition of playwrights such as Martin McDonagh and David Ives.

Idina Menzel took to social media yesterday to announce a new self-titled album being released September 23rd. Coincidently her former Wicked co-star Kristin Chenoweth also announced a new album to be digitally released on the same day.

Kristin Chenoweth has teased on Twitter that she will be releasing a new album this fall! BroadwayWorld has learned the album, which will be titled 'The Art of Elegance' will have a digital release September 23rd and a physical release of September 30th, 2016.

As reported last week by BroadwayWorld, a trio of Broadway and cabaret favorites, Seth Rudetsky, Liz Callaway and Melissa Errico, each announced on social media that they will be involved with a televised performance tonight, July 27th, at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.

I'm a huge fan of Twitter and Broadway - and for me, as someone who doesn't live in NYC, those two go hand in hand. Using social media I've been able to stay connected with everything happening in the New York theatre community and make some great friends along the way.

This winter, thirty years after it first premiered at Circle Repertory Company, producers Stacey Mindich and Jessica R. Jenen will present the first-ever Broadway revival of Lanford Wilson's acclaimed play, Burn This, directed by Tony Award winner Michael Mayer, and starring Academy Award nominee Jake Gyllenhaal. The play will re-open Ambassador Theatre Group's historic Hudson Theatre (139-141 West 44th St) on Broadway. Performances begin February 2017, with an opening night set for Monday, March 6, 2017.

A brilliant production of Matilda the Musical opened last night in Toronto at The Ed Mirvish Theatre. The show, which I saw in in London with the original cast, is truly a family musical for the age we currently live in.

Music superstar and stage and television actress Ariana Grande has been added to an already impressive cast for NBC's 'Hairspray Live!,' playing the role of Penny Pingleton, Tracy Turnblad's incorrigible best friend.
